Garnett after facing Anthony Davis for the first time:

Davis went for 10 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal in 27 minutes on 80% from the field. Monty continues to lean on his veterans though as the Hornets keep winning. Anthony's minutes have been way down even though he's played well. He had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals in only 21 minutes the night before.

And Aminu coming back has really dipped into Davis' stats. Aminu has averaged 10.25 rebounds a game over the last 8 games. The Hornets are one hell of a rebounding team right now.

Austin had 8 points in 23 minutes last night and looked really good. Going to be real interesting with Brian Roberts going down. Austin should get plenty of playing time at what has been his more natural position of PG, contrary to what realgm's perception of him is. Hornets fans have been begging for Roberts to come off the court and Rivers and Mason to play the bench guards as Roberts holds the ball only to create his own shot.

Those stats look decent, but this might be Zellers worst game as a pro.

Lillard had a horrible game, but he did step up a little in crunch time. Kyrie just wasn't going to be stopped though.

Not to take anything from Beal, but what the hell are the Kings doing there? All of Beal's buckets came from wide open spot up jumpers while the Kings played an awful zone. They did the same with Waiters the game before.

Leaving aside for the moment that it's completely inaccurate to say that all of Beal's buckets came from "wide open spot up jumpers", the shots that were of that variety were dump downs that created those opportunities, fast break kick outs and penetration kick outs aka how professional basketball teams generate a significant portion of their scoring totals in every modern basketball game ever played. For that matter, even if every three were completely open he still made 6 of 7 attempts in an NBA game as a rookie, something that's very impressive no matter how you slice it.

What was most impressive from Beal last night though was the completeness of his game. He battled Tyreke defensively after Reke had a particularly strong first quarter, a very tough task for most players especially rookies, he rebounded, virtually every decision he made on the court was the correct one from his passing to taking a charge to his help defense. He's just a terrific looking young player that's rapidly improving.

Beal had 6 assists that game despite rarely holding the ball for more than 1 second at any time. When he gets the ball, he is very decisive. If he has the open look or the defender is off balance, it's a quick shot or drive. If he has no advantage, he immediately swings the ball or makes the entry pass to the post. The ball never sticks to him. Never. He had one turnover that game, and that was the mishandling of a pass that a defender tipped. It wasn't a turnover caused by a poor decision.

This is the underrated aspect of Beal's game. He's a very smart guy. In November and December, his shooting was atrocious as he adapted to the speed of the game, but his decisions were always smart. Now that his shot is falling, he is looking like Ray Allen out there. I don't know if his recent streak of shooting is sustainable, or merely a hot streak, but if it's sustainable, the kid is going to be an All Star within 2 years.

Terrence Ross: 7-14 FG 4-5 3PM 7 Rebounds and 18 points against the Sixers.

He looked really aggressive this game and looked for his own shot. He was on fire from beyond the ark. Has hops and is using it to get key rebounds as well. Already outperforming DeRozan when given the opportunity :lol:

Wizard's backcourt is gonna be awesome. Just as exciting as Detroit's frontcourt to me.

with Beal we will see how hungry he is. If he works hard he can be one of the best in the current NBA with a Ray Allen meets Grant Hill type ceiling. HE is known as being a shooter but his shot wasnt falling. Now that it is I hope he still continues to work on it staying humble and hungry.

7 pts , 0 pts, 4 pts and 0 pts in his 4 previous games.Defensively he is better but overall nope. He is very streaky but I like that he's rebounding.

Well I guess not from a statistical point of view, but you must admit that if Ross can put it all together, which is very likely, he has a much wider skill set than DeRozan. The key for him is to find a way to utilize his first step to get to the rim. Composure and confidence will come in time but he is more promising of a SG than DD overall.
