Can Lakers make to the Playoffs this year?

Well the Lakers have 46 games left ( 22 at Staples, 24 on the road) 25 of these games are against teams over .500 and 27 games left against western conference teams. They need to leap frog three other teams ahead of them.

Jim Buss thinks they can.

Espn is full of it 40-42 Wins might get you the 8th seed

Miinesota is Not gonna get 40-42 Wins with Love out 2 months plus all the other recent injuries.
Portland is not gonna get 40-42 Wins with their lack of a bench without a trade ,

Currently 8th seed has .525.. So at the end of season, a team needs 45-49 wins to get the 8th seed. At average 47.
Lakers have 15 wins, and 45 games to play. They need to win at least 32 out of 45 games. This is .710

You believe Lakers will have a record of .710 in the rest of the games?
Considering the WC is really tough this season and many other teams are already competing for the same seed.. I don't think Lakers can make the playoffs. It's about 10% probability if you ask me.

Well, the 7 and 8 seeds in the West this year are actually underachieving compared to year's past, because they're only on pace to win 43 games.

To win 43 games, the Lakers need to go 26-17, which is a 61% clip. That would translate to 50 wins for an entire season. Not impossible.

If the 7 and 8 seeds in the West pick up the pace and win 45 games, which will fall in line with how many wins it takes to make the playoffs in the West in previous years, the Lakers need to go 28-15, which is a 65% clip. That would translate to 53 wins for an entire season. That might be a little tougher. But still, not impossible. They're in a much better place than they were a week ago.

Houston, Portland, and Minnesota collapsing as of late really helped the Lakers out.

It 's still up in the air. Fact is, as much as the players on the Lakers are disliked ( with the exception of Nash) they still have a lot of talent and can go ona win streak. Would be a heck of Karma on both Dwight Coward and the Lakers if they missed the playoffs. You'd wonder how a team that stacked could miss the playoffs. And plus for you conspiracy theorists, you know with Stern still around, if the Lakers missed the playoffs they would somehow wind up as the lucky team to draw the #1 draft pick in the lottery. Stern Karma.

Not sure how long Curry's out for but that could really bring down GS. Don't think Wolves will make it this year with all these injuries. West playoff race is gonna be crazy.

43 is too low I think. Because after the ASB bad teams partially or totally give up while playoff contenders take it more seriously. So they perform better. Last year's 8th seed Jazz was below .500 before the ASB but they ended up having 36-30.

Can't see how they can make it. Dirk is back and they will make a run for it. Houston and Portland both have assets and one of them will likely make a run for it for another veteran addition. Lakers simply have way too many holes on the team to win 65 percent of their remaining games.

Phoenix would get that pick, because of the Nash trade. If the Lakers don't make the playoffs, they're screwed. They can't really improve the team without blowing it up and starting over, and they don't have draft picks.
