I don't think Kobe has even defended either guy in the last 4 years, he's become that much of a defensive liability that they've always had to hide him onto somebody else.

Um no, all the stats point to Lebron being a better post player than Melo. Infact I think last year Lebron had the highest field goal from shots taken in the post, and or the highest point per possession from the post.

I can believe it.

This year at least, Lebron vs Melo in isolations is a wash (Lebron is ranked #22, Melo #25) in points per possession.
But Melo has been far more effective in the post (Lebron #25, Melo #8).

But from a winning games perspective, Lebron has a lot more diversity to his game and playmaking.

Wow, I can't believe some people get all defensive here just because in Kobe's opinion, who actually has played against both, stated that he thinks Melo is harder to guard. It's not like you know more than him or have the power to overrule personal opinion. Get over it, Rudy Gay said the same thing.

I could only guess that he is saying that he could guard Carmelo either.

I do however think that Carmelo tends to be more relentless on the offensive end. When he decides that he's going to get a shot up, he is and he's more likely to be trying to rebound that miss as well.

Right... as if Kobe gets assigned to guard the opposing team's best player.

The best offensive scorers in the NBA are Melo & Durant, no argument there...

When you guarded both Melo & LeBron, which one did you think was the toughest to guard? Because if you're saying it's not Melo, many NBA players disagree with you.

are their defensive scorers?

I think the best offensive players are LeBron and Durant actually although Melo is moving up.

Do some users here not comprehend plain English?

Not sure of the need for this comment. Which poster before your post didn't acknowledge that Kobe was talking personally?

why would there be defensive scorers?

There are offensive players who know how to run an offense, pass at the right time, make the right choices...then there are offensive scorers, who can simply put the ball in the hoop. Offense isn't just limited to one thing, in case "offensive scorers" was too much for you to comprehend.

Melo is a threat from any where on the court, His skill set is off the charts, Lebron you can live with leaving behind the three point line . i agree with the post that individually he's harder to guard but team wise bron is harder to defend. i think 5 years from now when both are athletically declining that will shift to melo individually and team wise

Carmelo leads the league in offensive fouls due to some defenders using that strenght agAinst him .

Thought it was worth a mention.

Well this is obvious. Melo's footwork and offensive repertoire exceeds Lebron's.

I would have thought this was obvious. Melo has more than one way to beat you.

Kobe's never defended either play in the last 2 years for a full game either, because he's not good enough on the defensive end. I could listen to Rudy Gay if he said it because he's defended both, but Kobe? Nah, Ron Artest would have an opinion worth hearing too.

Sometimes Melo will put his arm out and hook a defender.

Kobe cant guard either of them, so its sort of a moot point isn't it?
