I found this image online. It claims to be hacked from NBA servers. Looks very much legitimate.
What would be the implications if this were introduced? There would be a lot more strategy with 3-team matches.
Lower teams can collude to take down strong teams. Teams like Washington or Charlotte would have little chance to beat Miami alone, but working together they have stronger chance. They would probably still loose, but the score would be closer and the fans would have a more enjoyable game to watch

I'm not sure how anyone could actually believe this is real.
But just to humor the idea, shot attempts inside the paint would cease to exist, and fast breaks would be the main source of scoring.

How does it look legitimate?
It looks like someone used AutoCAD to just copy and paste half of a court and rotate it around the center symbol so the center of every court is 120 degrees apart.
It may work for SlamBall, but not the NBA.
