Ramon Shelburne, a Lakers beat writer for those that don't know who she is, reported that this whole 'near fight' between Kobe and Dwight was reported by a New Jersey Nets beat writer. The Nets beat writer claimed to have a 'NBA source' but she couldn't find this 'source' and she couldn't find anyone else to collaborate this supposed 'source'. She also pointed out that it was quite weird for this story to come out a week after it happened, be reported by a Nets beat writer and not a Laker beat writer who are around the team every single day and that not 1 Laker reporter saw it or reported it and there are plenty of Laker reporters that would of loved to be the one to break this type of story.

Point is, there was no fight between Kobe and Dwight and it is ridiculous to continue to argue with kids on the internet about something that didn't happen.

This is like bizzaro world. Am I praising anyone here or spreading joy and love? Or am I saying Kobe is awful at PR?

You're showing a curious amount of single-mindedness. Many great points have been made, and all you can say is, "Well, thanks for taking the time to make your post, but I'm not conceding anything."

I never get the point of people who discuss things but aren't open-minded towards changing their opinions or even conceding that good points have been made. It's all very boring to me. Just agree to disagree and call it a day. -shrugs-

Phil, you're obviously a homer for not believing every crappy rumor you hear online. You shouldn't question these things, take off the purple and yellow goggles.

Let's keep this simple. If Kobe and Dwight were yelling at each other and that was it. I see it. If they were chirping back and forth at each other. I see it, I believe it and frankly I want it. I think we can both agree that there is tension. Ok.

Now, to the picture and the alleged near fight. That is the part of the story that hasn't been backed up and the picture in my mind is poking fun at how whomever reported this incident that it was blown out of proportion. I then used Kobe's history of being that guy who would not make light of a situation in the past if they were in fact about to " fight". That is all.

I'll also keep this simple: You are giving your take on what occurred. That is fine. I accept that. "That is all" I have to say on that matter, your take on what you think happened. That is a different take than my own, and that's cool. That's your take.

The report "not being backed up" doesn't mean it didn't happen. So the New York guy made the thing up out of thin air? Sure he did.

I gave a concrete example of Kobe doing a PR gimmick that involved imagery, in this case the stunts with his wife and daughters at halftime and the ends of games. I also gave an example from Ric Bucher -- a person known to have been close to Kobe for years -- discussing how Kobe is extremely Machiavellian.

What you need to understand, or at least accept, is that your judgment on the matter does not constitute a "final" one. Others may disagree with you.

I respect your opinion. I also respect my opinion and my knowledge of how these things often take place and how the media reports on these things.

I will go back to what I said: We will have to agree to disagree. I see the Monet one way, and you apparently see it another way. Fair enough.

While It is totally believable that Dwight and kobe may had some disagreement, I highly doubt they ever came close to a physical confrontation. I mean c'mon a NY magazine conveniently decided to release that crap after the lakers went on a losing streak. Don't be naive guys, that twitter pic is just mocking the media and all the sheep that believe everything they say.

I entered this thread with the basis of one thing. Kobe and PR really don't go into the same sentence. His history in the league over the past 2 decades proves that. Believe me I have been watching.

I gave a concrete example of Kobe doing a PR gimmick that involved imagery, in this case the stunts with his wife and daughters at halftime and the ends of games.

Yeah but for every Vanessa screen shot, I can show you 15 terrible PR moves. That involve things like his teammates and stuff.

I am not saying that he or his people don't care about his image. I am saying Kobe Bean Bryant has sucked at PRing over the years in situations like this. This would show a new side of Kobe. One in my mind doesn't seem to add up.

If they were about to fight, I believe there would be ALOT more eyes on this. And when I mean fight I mean --bow up and fists out type.

I also gave an example from Ric Bucher -- a person known to have been close to Kobe for years -- discussing how Kobe is extremely Machiavellian.

Well, Ok. He is also very Kobeiabellian where when things are bad ( which they are for this team) that he has never held and punches. Ever

What you need to understand, or at least accept, is that your judgment on the matter does not constitute a "final" one. Others may disagree with you.

I didn't realize my say was final nor did I mean in that way. I am not telling you can't have a take on this, I am actually appreciating you taking the time to post instead of Apathy aka HasheemThabet, ClassinSessions etc.. for straw manning this topic.

I respect your opinion. I also respect my opinion and my knowledge of how these things often take place and how the media reports on these things.

Fair enough.

I don't know what team you route for and or where you live. But as you might have guessed I am a Laker fan who lives in So Cal. So at the very least I do have some input on LA media ( listen, read , watch daily) so my opinion on this subject is based from that. So I am not sure where you are getting that I am trying to stifle your opinion???

I will go back to what I said: We will have to agree to disagree. I see the Monet one way, and you apparently see it another way.

I am kind of lost on what we are disagreeing about at this point. lol

Fair enough.

Agreed. I think Kobe's tweet about the BCS game pretty much gives it away.

Yeah, it was my bad. I think I just misread your post. My apologies. Long night on my end, probably just a short fuse on my side. Sorry about that.

Cheers!
