PF's in the East

Post#1 » by pipfan » Tue Jan 8, 2013 10:35 pm

Big Bulls fan here who hated the Boozer signing in 2010. I wanted DLee and still do. But what is done is done.

I have been pushing for us to trade him also, but as many wiser Bulls fans have pointed out, if we don't improve the team, why deal him.

This year he has played well. He played every game last year and so far this year. His D is not terrible anymore, just bad. He passes well, is good on offense and is playing harder. Plus, he and Noah figured it out.

My question is-how many PF's in the East are better than him. Here is the list
Det-Monroe will be in a year or two, once Drummund starts, but not yet
Clev-Thompson looks ok but no
Milw-? they have a bunch of 4's but none are better
Indy-DWest was better, but not anymore

Miami-Haslem-no
Wash-Okafor starts at the 4 I believe, so no
Atl-Jsmith-maybe-this one is close
Orl-BBD-no
Char-who is their 4?

Bos-Bass-no
Phily-Young-no
tor-Bargs-no
NJ-Humphries-no
NY-Melo for now, so yes. Amare-no

So, is it possible that Boozer, one of the most hated on players in the league, is the best 4 in the East?

Josh smith is SIGNIFICANTLY better, Id also take Amar'e in a heartbeat over him.. Just because he isnt worth 22 million does not make an overpaid 14m player better then him, also id take DWest as well now that i think about it.

Also as these guys have said Bosh/Garnett are clearly better and they obviously count if you want to exclude melo

Chris Bosh.
Kevin Garnett.
Josh Smith.
Al Horford.
are clearly better. Contract not considered, those 4 guys are just better than Boozer.

Contract considered I would take
Taj Gibson, Tristan Thompson, Ed Davis, David West, Larry Sanders, Greg Monroe over him. (Maybe even Sullinger also).

I believe the OP is asking about production from this season, while playing the PF position.

The difference between a 4 and 5 is becoming smaller and smaller. So excluding players like Garnett and Bosh in this thread is silly IMO.

Well is thats the case the OP would be skewing his question to get his desired answer.

I think most objective people would understand players like Bosh,Horford and KG are all capable PF who are playing center out of team need.

Obviously Bosh and KG are better, Horford too. But all 3 play their minutes at the 5 now. I listed Melo as better because he is playing the 4 this season-eventhough he is traditionally a 3 man.

It is just about 4's this year-not contracts, not past, not potential. Just this year, 4 men. The only guy, other than the obvious Melo, is JSmith-but his bone-headedness is a big drawback.

At worst, Boozer is the 3rd best 4 man in the East this year

Haslem has played only 13 games as starting forward. How many games has Lebron started at PF?

and how many has Melo started at PF? curious

pretty simple to answer the main question beyond how much i feel Boozer is below plenty of traditional 4s
Carmelo is CLEARLY #1 if he is excluded bosh/garnett are the answer... Otherwise J Smith is clearly better
