Where were the Bulls before 1984?
Did we know we'd draft the GOAT? No way in hell.
You guys all have a chance. Back to the future and predicting Florida to win it? And then it happens?
You get the point.
To quote the most famous American historian this century has produced,
"Hey, it could happen" - Mcdonalds
the difference is, when the bulls draft a Jordan or a Rose, odds are he is staying in CHICAGO.
when the lakers draft a Kobe, or Magic, odds are he is staying LA.
when the knicks draft a Monroe or frazier or Ewing, odds are hs is staying in NEW YORK.
when the celtics drafted Bird or Pierce, odds are he is staying in BOSTON
get the gist? in the past year we've already seen dwight and chris paul force there way out of small markets, missing out on NY, and "settling" for LA. Lebrons "decision" was pretty easy and it wasnt sticking around in cleveland.
Great ownership, Large market. thats what you need to be reasonably confident you'll win one in the next 15-20 years
This is all true
It will always be easier to find role players to cover up your stars defensive deficiencies than it will be to find guys that can cover up your stars offensive shortcomings.

As a Magic fan, I see us being middle of pack and not quite contender material forever. Lost hope with the Dwight Howard fiasco.

At least you guys have made the finals a few times. Many franchises can only dream of making it that far.
But all it takes is that one special player and any franchise can possibly win it.
Raps in 4 (if only the Raptors could actually make the playoffs...)

I started watching Detroit Pistons in 1981. I've seen three titles here in my lifetime. My prediction for Detroit - build around Drummond and we'll have a shot. Pistons need to get back to defense and he's a start.

I think Suns can win one in the next decade...assuming they rebuild cleanly from his coming draft...
Then get another stud rookie in 2014...
Then make offers for 2 star FAs in 2014...
Coupled with some of the elite teams perhaps on their way down...
Suns can...
I'm hopeful.

On Melo getting superstar calls -

The grizzlies can if they get a good coach .
The right trade for zbo would help a lot too.

As a long time Heat fan, I know how you feel. I actually was more obsessed with Heat in the Pre-Riley years, then later in life. Breaking .500 or just finally beating the "UnbeataBulls" in a meaningless regular season game meant so much to me. I thought when Harold Miner won the dunk contest and Glen Rice won the 3 point shootout in the same allstar weekend, it was some huge moment lol. So many heart breaks, the Knicks beating us 3 straight series, losing Zo in his prime, losing to the Pistons in game 7 of the 2005 ECFs...it just never seemed it would happen. Then getting down 0-2 to the Mavs... it seemed more heart break. When we finally won, I didnt know how to react. It was almost sureeal.
Any real Heat fan knows what I mean. Last year meant a lot... but in 06, never seen my favorite team of all my teams win... wow.
Hold out hope...
I remember feeling as if my 06 Heat were not good enough to beat the complete Mavs, even when the series went 2 a piece I though they were over their heads, then win 3 got my hopes all over the place and my heart speed up and praying that somehow a miracle would happen in GM 6, as I watched the clock going into the final 5 minutes of GM 6, my body muscles were locked up and tight and the thought of the possibility was starting to take over me. Then Terry misses the 3 and DWade throws the ball high and........ I've must have hit the ceiling fan a hundred times, as I could not hold my self in check. It really was surreal.
