Anybody mention the Cavs guy yet?

Dude sounds like some guy from a barber shop lol

Surprise people are mentioning the Lakers...if anything, they're very unbiased and compliment the other players on the other team all the time

King is a great color guy and even his analysis is pretty good, but Funk is just horrific.

I agree with Richboy's comments that big city crews, save Boston, are better though I disagree with the reason. The announcers are better in the big cities because big cities are major media centers that attract higher quality broadcasters rather than having better informed fans.

I like the Lakers crew alot who do a good job explaining the internal dynamics of the lakers. They come off very knowledgeable about teams beside the lakers and generally call it down the middle. I think the lakers old play by play announcer is doing a good job in NO.

Sean Elliot and Tommy Heinhson are horrendous and should be fired immediately. I rate Heinhson as worse solely because there are many top notch broadcasters in a city like Boston who could do a top notch job.

I don't know about the "big city guys are better" stuff. I can't listen to Clyde, Heinsohn, the Clipper guys (Lawler has a great voice but has awful signature calls), the Bulls guys or Toronto's bums. I would say that LAL is the big city exception.

Miami announcers are far from homers. They may have a radio style voice, or 1980's, but their player knowledge, league historic event etc is better than most announcers with likable voices/style.
There's a reason they are where they are.
Also, Miami seems to be just about one of the only crews that interviews the winning Team's players, regardless if they are the home team or the opposition.
So as a Heat fan also, I don't understand what the problem is.

Stacy King is a homer but he still be very critical of the Bulls when he needs.

Yeah even going back to the Chick era, Chick and Stu would always point out when a call was questionable and it went the Lakers way.

Yes indeed.
I'd live in LA during the Magic era, and Chick Hearn was the perfect local announcer IMO.
Even back then, the Celtics announcers were such homers, but of course, the word homer was not yet in effect lol.

A few tidbits from the Rockets announcers just now.

"Chase Budinger is out for the season"
"Rubio is out injured" (He started this game)
"They are playing a bunch of D-Leaguers right now"(Rubio/Rid/Kirilenko/Stiemsma)
Announcer 1: "Kevin McHale who drafted Kevin Love and Kevin Garnett", Announcer 2: "He also drafted Kevin Garnett!"
"They just signed 2 guys from the D-League today"(One of those being Gelabale who came from Valencia)
"Derrick Williams, was he the first or the second pick in the draft?"

Not to mention that they are true homers who complains about not getting calls and accusing Wolves for being a bunch of floppers. Especially Rubio, he is the expert. James Harden is also the best player in the league in their eyes.

Magic, Hornets, Jazz and Kings are some of the other teams with homers/horrible announcers.
