this year? hell yes. he's had an amazing return to form after years of predictable post-prime downward drift
the donald, always unpopular, did worse in EVERY state in 2020. and by a greater margin in red states! 50 independently-run elections, none of them rigged

Yes he deserves it. He should continue to make the all star game every year he's in the league imo, until he is no longer a starter caliber player. In other words, likely ever year.

The dude is a legend and putting up nearly 30/5/5. Yes his team is garbage, but it isn't all on him. Teams lose together, teams win together...their defense as a team is poor.

Replace Kobe with Dwight and your thread makes sense.

Durant actually leads the league in scoring. Kobe 29.2, Durant 29.5

/thread?

Actually when I posted that, Kobe was still leading the league in scoring...
Are you gonna quote me again in a couple days saying that actually Carmelo leads the league in scoring?

oh yeah, that's right. you're trolling.

of course the mods are probably too busy closing some thread that's actually decent to close this.

Did he not receive the most votes or did I forget the criteria for starting the all-star game?

Perhaps, but the problem in both cases is who would really start over them? For Kobe it would be..James Harden? I suppose you could go Paul/Westbrook, but there is no SG more deserving. For Dwight it would be...Marc Gasol?? A 14pt 7reb guy? Really? I'm a Cousins believer myself, but you just can't do that until they win, and he proves he's settled down. Maybe next year. So you've got two HOFs on a struggling team, and then almost nobody of note to replace them, so its kind of a given.

It's close. Westbrook probably deserves it more.

Depends on the reserves, the Spurs need some rep and Tony Parker seems to be having another career best year as an overall player although Duncan's resurgence needs credit too

I realize that they're really, really awful right now, but the dump-taking on the Lakers is a bit extreme. This thread....it's ridiculous.

Yes. But hopefully, no NBA Defensive 1st team citation this season...

Two teams under .500 have two starters each in the all-star game. I guess the non-winning team stigma only applies to smaller markets.

When was the last time a guy averaging almost 30 ppg was left out of the ASG?

World B. Free missed it with 28.8ppg in 78-79. Tiny Archibald with 28.0 in 71-72. Purvis Short with 28.0 and Dominique with 27.4 were left off in 84-85. The most recent omission was probably Carmelo in 05-06 at 26.5. Doesn't happen too often.

Arenas was averaging 28ppg the year Melo got snubbed. Arenas was initially snubbed too, he only got in as an injury replacement.

As far as the empty stats thing goes, it does sort of remind me of the year Stackhouse averaged 30 ppg in Detroit for a 50-loss Pistons team. He made the ASG that year.

Fans have never cared about team record, it's the coaches who care about that stuff.
