I hope that 2015 is a good draft, the Cavs are loaded for bear with 3 first rounders and of course that infamous Sacramento pick

I'm glad they brought in this luxuary tax to stop big market teams from stacking superstar squads.

Speights, Selby, Ellington + Top 5 protected first rounder for Jon Luer? Its a good day to be a Cavs fan. Any injection of talent is a welcome sight on our roster, that draft pick is the cherry on top of an already delicious sundae.

So we have no bench now

Bayless
Arthur
Hidadi

C: Marc 35, Arthur 13, Haddadi
PF: ZBo 35, Arthur 5, Leuer/Pondexter 5-8
SF: Gay 35, Pondexter 13
SG: Allen 30, Bayless 18
PG: Conley 35, Wroten 8-10, Bayless 3-5

+ a FA guard who can shoot to take minutes from Wroten

still pretty solid IMO.

Confusing trade nonetheless.

This deal is Hollinger agreeing not to trade Rudy Gay and break up the Grizz this year.

He cut the money they needed to by replacing a solid off the bench big in Speights with a player with similar PER and size (Leuer), albeit in way less minutes. Ellington and Selby are detritus. If the 2015 pick is top 5 protected, I have to question the deal. It seems like that pick + Speights + Ellington + Selby might have been able to bring back a better bet to be a cheap, backup PF who is good enough to play 15-20 minutes.

I get the idea, I just think the Grizz might have been better off trading an earlier (thereby more valuable, due to short-term picks being more valuable than ones further in the future) pick and getting a cheap PF signed long-term for cheap, like Minnesota was able to do at SF, getting Chase Budinger and his awesome 4 year, 3.3 million (overall) contract from Houston for a pick probably only 6-8 spots higher than the Grizz one will be.

If this trade couldn't get better for Cavs fans, we now get to watch Delonte West on a good team again.

So, this new CBA that was supposed to save the small market teams has meant OKC trading Harden, and now the Grizz giving up a 1st rounder and most of their bench for financial reasons. Damn most of the general public is stupid.

Where does this put Selby on the Cavs depth chart. Is he 2nd guard off of the bench to Waiters?

the cavs got ellington in the deal and livingston is better suited for the back up point.
so unless they're trying to see what they got in selby, i think he's deeper on the depth chart than 2nd guard off the bench.

this. can't believe some fans actually believed that the players giving back a percentage of the BRI would ensure a level playing field among teams.

wow a 1st round pick?

good trade for cavs.

Not a horrible trade for griz. they save 4m luxury tax, and possibly more (they're only taking one guy back). They really only use Speights in their rotation because I believe bayless is their back up pg, but i don't like the only top 5 protected pick. as we saw with the lakers this season-u never know, always use protection just in case.

Grizzlies can't trade any 1st before 2015.
