I want the Kings in Sacto but seems like this has been mishandled by whatever people with money want to keep 'em there.

Because in all of 2011 the Maloofs told KJ and everyone in Sacramento that the team is not for sale and turned down offers to keep the team in Sacramento.

Because all of a sudden the Maloofs sold the team. When the news started coming out about the Kings being sold to Hansen's group, the minority owners were not even notified of the King's dealings. Don't you think the other 35% of the owners should at least be given the courtesy of letting them know that you're thinking about selling?

They're called minority owners for a reason. They can have a say and their concerns aired, but the final decision always lies with whoever the majority owners are. In this case, that's soon to be the Hansen/Balmer group.

Same way with investing in a huge corporation. You may own a couple shares of Apple, but you don't get to tell Tim Cook what he does or doesn't put into the next iPhone or where he gets to move the Apple HQ.

This thread is sad. Mainly because the NBA ownership isn't run where if KJ got a group of guys together that the league would even approve them.

You guys have no idea what is even coming. He's not going to announce everyone at once, give him time. It's only been 3 days since the Maloofs put the team for sale. He isn't going to show all of his cards at once, nor would he have a press conference just to say "hey we only have $19 million, sorry guys, we tried". Give it a rest and see what happens, there's 2 months to go.

Exactly. The NBA isn't some fly-by-night organization where if you get a group of guys with money together and say "OK, here's our money, give us a team!" You have to have plans in place. They still have no solid plan to fix the arena situation, they have ideas and proposals, but nothing set in stone like Seattle has. They've got all their ducks in a row and the next 5 years are all mapped out. Even if by some odd chance KJ rounded up enough people to match the Seattle offer, they still need to have a set in stone plan to get the Kings in a updated arena and make them profitable. Seattle has those plans set up, KJ simply doesn't and won't have those plans set up in time to keep them there. This type of thing takes years to plan, the Balmer/Hansen group has already put in the time to plan all that out.

I know they are minority owners. But they still own a large portion...and many of them have been owners far longer than the Maloofs. It's just a sign of complete and utter lack of respect.

Look, I wish the Kings luck in their endeavor to keep the team. But there isn't some edict from Stern or the league that if the city gets a buyer(s) that the league is going to say that Sacramento will stay.

You are terribly misinformed... Sacramento DOES have an arena plan. An arena plan that the Maloofs even agreed to then backed out of because they did not want to way $3 Mil of developmental fees. That deal is still on the table waiting for someone who isn't a clown to come scoop it up. Do some research before say say things like Sacramento doesn't have a plan.

Most business owners become rich by stomping on others. It's a sad but true reality. The Maloofs are out for the Maloofs.

I'm not arguing that a plan doesn't exist, I'm arguing that the Kevin Johnson or anyone else could put up money and then say "the team has to stay in Sacramento because I am the buyer". That's not how buying the Kings has gone.

Does anyone outside of Seattle and Sac really care about this? I don't think anyone would be too sore over the outcome of this, whatever it may be.

yea i could care less what happens here, but it's still amusing.

Agreed, this is an obvious troll by a desperate Kings fan. I feel sorry for Sacramento fans bigtime, but I am losing a tiny bit of sympathy for them the more I see childish rants like the OP.

Right now its about a 95 percent chance the kings are moving, I wouldn't like to bet against that odds.

Has a franchise on the verge of moving in recent history ever, I mean ever, ended up staying? The Grizzlies, Hornets, Sonics, and Nets made some noise but all ended up eventually leaving. Plus Stern is not impartial in this, he actually wants the Kings to move to Seattle. I think they're gone.

I would feel soo bad for people from Seattle if somehow the Kings did end up staying in Sacramento. Probably worse then i would for Kings fans if they moved.

They will eventually get a team. In the meantime they have the Mariners and the Seahawks to keep them happy. Sac has the rivercats and sac state. Must really suck to be a Seattle sports fan...

The Seattle group will lavish the Maloofs with the kind of cash they need.

The Maloofs made the move that got them the most money. If any other suitor could surpass the monetary value they received from Hansen then they'll gladly take it.

At the end of the day it's up to them and not Stern in regards to who they want to sell to. Stern can rant and rave but all the Seattle group needs is an approval from the Board of Governors, which is likely.

Would you supply a quote from Stern on that? So far Stern only official quote is that the deal is not done and KJ will present his counter-offer to BOG.
People on both sides spin the incoming information their way and there's still 3 months before "The decision" :D
Everybody needs some patience.

Matched it? They would only have 19 million.
