Would Phoenix ironically be the 3rd team and send the Lakers their own pick back plus their pick with some protection and Gortat for Lopez?

If the losing of Dwight in the summer happens and the Lakers get nothing. I still think they did the right thing in getting out from Bynum. I do believe Bynum has the tools to be a good player. But obviously health and attitude/past experience, that ship has sailed and I am glad the didn't commit long term to him.

As far as Dwight? I really do get the sense that most Laker fans don't care if he resigns for the next 6 years. Do they want him? ... I say yes or they want the idea of him.. Future star to build around. But if he leaves there will be no love loss. Might as well traded him now IMO.
Cheers. — Mags

If the Lakers can somehow engineer a trade of Dwight for Kevin Love, they would be crazy not to do it.

I know which player I'd rather build my franchise around, Dwight has the heart the size of a pea, whereas K-Love plays hard and consistent, game in, game out.

Newsflash everyone on that team is unhappy. D'Antoni is too stubborn.

Trade him to Miami for Bosh. From the Lakers' perspective, it would be like trading Howard for Bosh and an improved Gasol, since Pau would fit and flourish alongside Bosh.

Miami's like a ready-made 'Howard team' since they're already stocked with great shooters...and that LeBron guy.

Makes both teams better imo.

Dwight isn't cut out for a big market. He should've stayed his ass in Orlando and built a legacy equivalent to what Hakeem did in Houston. But the powers that be weren't going to let that happen..

Wizards pick to the Lakers unprotected.

Nets pick to Golden State unprotected.

After the game he brought a stat sheet around the locker room to show some teammates and reporters how he got only five field-goal attempts ... a few minutes before the demoted Gasol spoke gracefully across the room about "not pointing fingers, owning up to our responsibilities, wanting to get out of this and having the pride necessary that it takes to utilize our talents and go beat the opponent – no matter who it is, no matter where we are."

What's a trade deadline without some Dwight drama?

I have to admit, this Laker mess is quite entertaining.

Atlanta would have to be silly to do that.'

What happens if Dwight and Smith walk in the offseason, which is very likely?

Yikes.

Interesting that this trade puts us at -9 wins. I don't put much emphasis into ESPN trade checker, but that is still interesting.

As a fellow Nets fan though, do you really want Dwight? My friend just asked me about this. Would I trade Lopez for Dwight. My response was....

Thats tough. I honestly don't know. Lopez has been dominant, and isn't a cancer to his team. He doesn't complain or whine, and isn't smiling and laughing when we lose. It'd be tough. Dwight is superior if he's healthy, but hes not healthy, and a center with back issues is concerning. Lopez has probably been the best center in the league besides Tim Duncan. He's been very impressive. And, he's only 24, which means he has a lot of time to improve. Big men bloom late. Would I do the trade? Yeah, probably. Dwight is a top 3 player in the league.

With all the crap that is going on, Howard is leading the league at 12 rebounds per game. He still gets it done on the defensive end. I simply don't see how trading him will make that team better. Gasol hasn't had a good moment since 2010. Dare I say it makes more sense for the Lakers to trade Gasol, amnesty Kobe and move on with Dwight.
