Why do you think he's open on those mid range shots? Its because LMA is an absolute beast. Lillard has been very impressive, but Lamarcus Aldridge is far and away the best offensive player on that team.
The fact that we're having this discussion shows how mature Lillard really is.
I don't think you watch the games. Yes Aldridge is a big part of their offense, never seen anyone deny that. Lillard though, is doubled and trapped a lot by opposing teams. The offense functions much better with him the game and other teams know this. Taking Lillard out of the play is a strategy team after team has been using.
And what's wrong with Lillard using picks to get open like oh I don't know every guard in the league does? And if he catches you on an iso he can easily get an open shot with his step back. If the lane is open he's shown he can drive (mostly to the left atm).
Lillard is doing what he's doing against starters, too.
Can't you just be happy that you have Drummond without trying to downplay Lillard? Both teams made great draft picks.
Uhhh...I can't objectively talk about a player unless its complete praise. The fact is Lillard is playing with an all star PF, IMO the best PF in basketball right now. You can't tell me there's any other reason why bigs don't show harder on the Pick and Roll. This conversation has nothing to do with Andre Drummond. This has to do with Lamarcus Aldridge being the best player on the team and Lillard benefiting from playing with him. You replace Aldridge with Kenyon Martin and Lillard doesn't have an open lane or jumper after the screen. Its really that simple. Lillard has been amazing this year, but he also has an excellent starting supporting cast that makes it easier on him. The only reason it looks like teams plan for Lillard is because he's the one with the ball in his hands most of the time. But if you don't think teams are more afraid of Aldridge in the post than they are Lillard at the top of the key, you're underrating him.
