KG has always been a very loyal guy and didn't want to play anywhere else. Not really a surprise.

I'm not a fan of the Celtics, and I'm indifferent to KG and his persona (although he's a legend, make no mistake), but good for him. He got one, not selling out his career to get another, legit stance, should retire a Celtic.

He's going to be remembered more as a Celtic, with his best stat years coming on Minny.

Hmm not sure if it's really out of loyalty. It wouldn't be loyal to force stay on a team trying to trade you, I'm sure he has his reasons though. Not wanting to be traded is loyalty, refusing to let it happen isn't the same thing. Haven't really been paying attention to the story though.

Who cares about his legacy with Boston? Ten years later, all people see is the number of rings you had won.

With all the talk from KG lately about how hard the game has gotten for him, you wonder if he knows he just doesn't have another title run left in him, physically or emotionally, and maybe just rather finish out his career without all that pressure. He missed out on a great opportunity.

This makes sense. He's probably too drained and just want to get things over with. We'll see this off season.
BTW, Clippers also missed a golden opportunity. If I were 'em I would have gone tooth and nails to get KG. He'll be the team's ticket for a best shot at the title, well atleast this year.

From Bledsoe's perspective, wouldn't having a chance to crack a starting PG spot and playing crunch time minutes and having the chance to earn a better contract in the future be better than being struck on the Clippers bench?

Completely wrong. Staying loyal to a team is a huge boost to your legacy and how you're remembered. In ten years Boston fans will talk up how great KG was anytime he's mentioned. So will his former teammates and coaches. Not to mention the media members who followed the team. That's not going to happen for Allen.

And why would anyone care if Ray Allen wins another ring scoring 10ppg off the bench?

It's pretty clear that KGs minutes are finally being appropriately cut as of late and that the Cs will be gearing up for their final run next year. Retool this off-season with a big man or 2 and make one final push with KG and Pierce, Rondo back, win a title, and they ride off into the sunset.

Well, firstly, you'd be surprised how much Bledsoe wouldn't mind a trade that meant bigger minutes for him, but this is more speculation than anything

Who cared about Gary Payton's championship in Miami when people rated him as a player? Rings as a ring chaser didn't exactly mean much to a player's overall legacy.

Agreed. KG stayed, his jersey would be retired in Boston when he's done.

Ray Allen's jersey would probably be retired by no one.
