If (and that's a big huge "if") the Raptors were to make the playoffs, that likely means they're at around .500 winning % at season's end. To get to .500, they would have to go 18-8 or win about 70% of their remaining games.. Only MIA, OKC and the Spurs have better than .700 winning percentage.
Therefore, joke all you want, but if they can play at .700 pace for the rest of the season, that'd mean the Gay led team is that good and their chances of beating MIA would as good as, if not better than, any other Eastern team of beating MIA.
The team that has grabbed the 8th seed in the East has been below .500 for 6 of the last 10 years. The Bucks schedule down the stretch isnt favourable. The team that gets in this year will probably get in with 39 wins (at least thats my projection). The Raps will need to go 16-10 down the stretch to get there.....thats a .650 winning %. Difficult to do but not out of the question. That said, theres a difference between playing .650 ball for a couple months vs playing that over an entire season. If the Raps make the playoffs, they should be viewed as a .500 team, not .650.
The Raptors are a totally different team with Rudy Gay. I think it's fair to view them as what they are post- Rudy Gay trade.
