On the road to win the title?

They will start on the road potentially in indy and San Antonio/OKC/clippers

Sure, it matters, but it doesn't hurt that Indiana is in a slump

But we obviously won't know anything for certain until ECF.

If the big 3 are healthy then it won't matter. Big 3 > home court advantage

miami won 3 times , 2 of them without hca.
Hca is good , but not that important. What actually matters is outplaying the other team

HCA does not matter to the heat. The only team that had a shot was the pacers but they have been playing so bad lately the heat have a cakewalk to the finals.

Miami will beat any team that comes out of the west.

They never won without HCA in ECF though.

They didn't have it in 2011 vs Chi and ended up losing in the finals.

Although they did have HCA in the finals, some argue that the old finals format favors the team without HCA.

They will beat the spurs in 6 games if the spurs even make it that far. It's going to be tough to make it out of the West as I expect tough games and a few 7 game series. Heat are on the other hand are going to have an easy time making it out of the east and will be well rested when the finals roll around.

Heat will be impossible to beat in a 7 game series with all their players back.

They will beat the spurs in 6 games. When they have all their guys playing they are impossible to beat in a 7 game series.

What an obtuse post....

Winning two series without HCA makes it tougher but not impossible.

Stars usually play like stars in the POs. It's the role players that seem to fall off on the road. Miami has three stars so they might be less dependent on the likes of Battier, Cole, etc. having decent nights to win, but obviously it puts more pressure on LBJ, Bosh and Wade to make sure they step up consistently. Playing without HCA increases the risk that the other team's role players go bananas on you.

The Heat usually play long series which makes the HCA something that matters a little bit more. Now of course they've won a road game in every series, but they've also played a lot of games that mattered at home. Now, the one advantage to not having HCA is that if the series goes less than 7 you never are really disadvantaged, but let's say it's 2-2 versus Indiana or some WCF, they're now in a best of three series with two road games left. That's not an ideal situation to win from.

Game 6 ECF 2012 - ROAD
Game 7 ECF 2012 - HOME
Game 7 ECF 2013 - HOME
Game 6&7 NBA FINALS 2013 - HOME

Miami has played five do or die games the last two years, four at home. The only road game (gm 6 @ Boston), they also got one of the best playoff performances of the last 20 years from LeBron.

Home Court matters a lot at the end of a series. In the Finals it will be different now that 2-3-2 was changed but it still matters to not have to play do or die games on the road.

First they need to get to the ECF and if Indiana meets Chicago I don't think Indiana gets to the ECF, so I think it's just early to look that far ahead.

And yes, HCA gives you an advantage but some teams need it more and some like Spurs, Miami need it less.

In 2011 they didn't have HCA in the ECF in beat Chicago in 5 (close) games.

Least the finals format doesn't favour a certain team anymore

I really don't see the Heat, or any team for that matter, beating OKC in a 7 game series. It's Durant and Westbrook's time to shine.

HCA is overrated if you're the better team.

Pretty hilarious assumption, considering Spurs were 28 seconds from closing out the Finals in Miami and are better this season while Miami looks slightly worse and this time Game 7 will be played in SA. I really like our chances vs. Miami. OKC is the only team that scares Spurs fans
