Taj Gibson Most Underrated Player in the League?

Post#1 » by VINO 24 » Mon Apr 21, 2014 12:34 am

My vote for sixth man, but I don't feel that he gets enough recognition. Elite defense/rebounding, and has vastly improved on the offensive end.

I'll give you elite defense but he's nowhere near a great rebounder. 6.8 rebounds a game this season. 8.5 per 36.

I got Chandler Parsons as the most underrated.

That title goes to Brandan Wright. The most efficient 15 minute a night role player in NBA history.

How much recognition do a role player need? Think everybody knows the scouting report on Gibson by now. Elite role player with elite defense and average offense.

Well paid and fulfilling the role envisaged. Not sure how that makes him the most underrated player.

As soon as threads like this one start popping up, it kind of disproves any hyperbole about such and such player being "the most underrated" in the whole NBA.

Definitely not. If anything, I think Gibson gets too much credit.

I'd go with Al Jefferson. Jefferson is the second-best big man in the East, and he's never even made an All-Star game.

Nope. He's damn good, but everyone knows already.

He is a good player, but nobody was giving him any 6th man love until Steve Kerr said so on a Bulls game a few months ago. Then everyone started saying he was the 6th man, just shows you how much this is a copycat league and not just in terms of style and plays.

One reason he might win is he basically plays every 4th quarter minute for Chicago.

I can't say if/how underrated he is, but I really hope the Suns get him this year if the Bulls decide to move him to clear up space for Melo. I wrote about it in my post about the Suns' offseaSuns - http://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2014/ ... sh-vucevic .

I think he and Markieff Morris would be an excellent pairing at the PF spot for the Suns, and he would provide much needed interior defense.
