It's almost like some people think the early 2000's Lakers legacy was tarnished by making the 2004 Finals

As if it would have been better had they lost in the 1st round and not made the Finals?
Which makes no sense to me

The 2004 team was different from 2001.

I have to agree. As a Laker fan, obviously I loved those teams. But the overall quality of the game has improved a ton between the better flow on offense and prohibition of wrestling that passed for defense.

Shaq and Kobe were a great duo, one of the best ever. That MJ/Pippen duo was pretty good too....

Classic games are always fun to watch. I like seeing how much the game has changed over the years.

Stay in school, kids.

The 2001 Lakers team played the best basketball I have ever seen and had the greatest playoffs run ever.

You think you're discrediting that by bringing up basketball that was played 3 years later?

Yeah well the Pistons played the best defense i've ever seen and many could argue that they would've beaten the 01 lakers...but that's speculation
You claimed they were an unstoppable duo...but they weren't; they were stopped. Sure it happened 3 years later, but they were not unstoppable.

So the 2001 Lakers were stopped in 2004. Got it.

I love generalizations.

Has a team ever had a greater run than 15-1?

Don't waste your time, the answer is no. And all of the teams they swept in the west had 50+ win teams.

Shaq and Kobe still literally unstoppable? Think about it.

I love reading threads where people are arguing about what the topic of the argument is. It completes the RealGM experience for me.
