Should we have individual game threads or one big one again?

Post#1 » by NBAfan3024 » Wed Aug 27, 2014 7:00 pm

I know we normally have one big game thread for all the games on one night and I know some say it clutters the board but would anybody be in favour of a change this season where people start the game threads they want to talk about? I would think the big games would be useful for different game threads.

I refrain from posting in the "one big game" thread because of confusion, clutter, and uselessness. It basically becomes a tweet where no one can get a good discussion going.

I don't know that there's a good answer to this question. One option makes it impossible to have a coherent conversation, and the other makes for a board filled with smaller threads while possibly pulling folks from the team boards.

I say we go for a change and see how it goes. If it becomes a cluster, change back.

Thats the thing so many times I went into the game thread the morning after and i couldn't find the discussion about the game I wanted due to it being so many pages. Least with game threads for the games people want to talk about people find what they want.

Maybe a subforum?
I dunno. If you want discussion about individual games you can always go to the team forums.

Some days where you have 14-15 games, the front page would be absolutely cluttered.

I get that but when you go to the team forums you will get a more biased view and maybe in the process get your head biten off if you say something out of emotion.

Also if there are 14/15 games you wont get all the games posted only the games people will want to talk about.

Pros and cons for both, but one reason I like the all-in-one threads is if someone is going off in a game I'm not currently watching, others can aware you of it and you can tune in to that game.

That's how an individual game game thread would be as well. Nothing would change. A game thread is not the place to have a discussion. Too fast paced

The only way I can see implementing this is to have a poll each morning asking which game or 2 should get its own thread latee on.

Least in individual game threads you know it''s about that one game. In one big thread you have no idea where to look.

Maybe give each Division its own game thread? Having one thread for each game seems like a bit much.

How about 1 game thread per time slot? All games that start at 730pm belong in one thread, all games that start at 9pm are in another, etc. It would help separate the discussions a lil more and still not add alot of clutter in the GB

I think thats a fair suggestion.

I think an eastern and western game thread would also be better than one big one.

I thought that too but an East vs West game might confuse people

Just go by the home team. It should be split up a bit. 13-14 threads somedays is too much obviously, at the same time 13-14 games being discussed in one thread is pretty bad at times.

I think is a good idea, but on heavy game day, the whole first page is going to be nothing but GT.

Maybe, guess it depends on the quailty of the games on show.
