Mike Miller: Lebron was angry

Post#1 » by Vides990 » Tue Sep 30, 2014 12:10 pm

The close-knit Miami group was ready to take on the challenge and then it happened. The Heat used their amnesty provision on Miller, releasing him from the team. It was a move that saved the organization approximately $17 million in luxury tax dollars.

The decision to waive Miller didn't sit well with James. It was one of the first times he began to question the Heat's brass.

"LeBron thought it was an unnecessary change," Miller revealed to Northeast Ohio Media Group. "I'm not saying I would have been a difference-maker. San Antonio was unbelievable last year and there are a lot of things that go into a season, but it was difficult for LeBron.

17 million dollars in luxury tax or get rid of Mike Miller?

Do you even need to think about it?

Who cares?

We would have lost anyway, he would have gone back to the Cavs, Miller would be amnestied and follow him.

So all that happened is the Heat saved 17mil.

17 million in luxury tax or losing Lebron a year later?

Keeping Miller doesn't mean LeBron stays. You cut his ass and save 17 mil. No brainer.

I don't think a team that just won a title should be making decisions based around cost-cutting.

Mike Miller wouldn't have changed the outcome of that series so yes I would lose Lebron.

Also he was going to leave Miami regardless if he won a championship. Just my opinion. He had this whole thing planned out way in advance.

So it looks like Miami made the right choice.

Very easy to say when it isn't your money. 17 million dollars isn't something you just disregard.

Fine, if a player wants to be "angry" with his boss for saving $17mil on a washed up player then he can offer to pay that $17mil himself. Cuz Bron wants to be the next billionaire right? And that's just good business.

Honestly at this point it doesn't matter. Lebron doesn't need this to justify why he left the Heat. He is the king he can do as he pleases. I just hope Cleveland fans understand that they only have him and Love on a one year rental at this junction, so gloat with caution Cavs fans, gloat with caution.

It's something you can afford to when you're the billionaire owner of a highly-profitable sports team that just won a title, sells out every game, and rakes in money on merchandise sales.

Is it within an owner's right to cut salary? Of course. They own the team and it is their money. However, there can be consequences to being cheap. Like, you know, the best player in the league getting angry and leaving the following year.

LeBron literally just stated in that CNN interview that he was going to finish his career in Cleveland, and that the contract he signed was strictly a business decision to maximize his potential earnings. I doubt the majority of Cavs fans are at all worried about him leaving again.

Your making that statement as if you knew Lebron would have stayed if Mike Millers contract was picked up and Miami payed the 17 million dollar luxury tax.

Mike Miller at the time was not producing like a player worth an extra $17 million dollars. He was always banged up and a liability on defense. You have to look at the big picture. He's not a $20 mil per year player. It's not about being cheap.

5 finals in 26 years, it's Miami, we're fine. Free agents will always look to play for us. We've won before LBJ, we'll win afterward. Granted it would be way down the line but w/e.
