The confidence connection actually makes sense.
The 3 pt shot, is a typically high risk, high reward shot. You have to have balls (no pun intended) to take 4 point shots like Antoine Walker did.
Having this mentality can easily translate to off-court business deals. Players who love the high risk high reward option of the 3 pt shot, and who also aren't that great at taking them (AI, Walker, Spree etc) will love to take on ventures with high risk and high reward in areas they might not even be knowledgeable of or skilled at.
