Most clutch?

Post#1 » by blazertown7 » Sat Dec 20, 2014 11:02 am

Who in your opinion is the most clutch player right now? This includes not only shots to tie/win the game but a guy who takes over. I'd put a poll but im on my phone.

From what I've seen this year, in no particular order.

Lillard
Harris
Westbrook

In terms of taking over, Curry is just so good at timing baskets it's unreal. It's something about taking over at the right juncture in the game to come back or put the game away.
John Wall is also similar in that regard, at least this year. He's not as good of a shooter though.

As far as most clutch at the end of the game, I still want Dirk taking my last shot.

Lillard is god-like. As good as a PG can be in the clutch. He obviously doesn't have Dirk or KD's high ~7 footer shot release.

I'm sure to get a lot of hate here because I'm going to bring up a player that no one would think is clutch. But according to nba.com, including players who've participated in more than 8 games(filter out the random scrub who gets in a game) where clutch situations (under 5 minutes, +/- < 5 pts) existed, the leader is...

James Harden. 5.6 ppg(clutch time), 53% shooting, 57% 3pts.
Some other players mentioned
LeBron 5.4/48%/44% 3s
Curry. 4.0/44%/22% 3s
Conley. 3.8/50%/53% 3s
Lillard. 2.3/42%/25% 3s

Im dont mind the james harden choice but according to these stats lebron is better than curry and lillard in the clutch? I cant buy that.

I don't the stats of the other players mentioned in this thread, but Conley's fourth quarter and final two minutes stats are very impressive - at least as mentioned on the local broadcasts of Grizzlies games.

Monta has been great in the clutch this year.

Curry and Lillard are obvious choices though

How many game-winers/go-ahead shots does Monta Ellis have this season?
