He was okay his rookie year. Nothing special. But towards the end of the year he really started getting used to the NBA and put up a few big games. It looked like he had a chance to blossom but if I had to guess he probably would have been a fringe all-star, maybe made 1 or 2 all-star games and had a solid career as a top 15 pg.

He did have 1 game early in his career - against Jason Kidd where he put up 26, 14 and 13 which was really impressive for a rookie in his first 10 games in the league.

But...I think it was pretty clear to Bulls fans that he wasn't going to be the cornerstone of a franchise even after only one year of play and despite being the #2 pick in the draft.

I think they were going to try to flip him for Antoine Walker before the draft if he didn't get hurt.

More like CJ McCollum. He didn't have that kind of explosiveness.

J Williams All-time Great college basketball player, who was always an overrated NBA prospect. He's what I call a Dick Vitale superstar: Along with Marc Macon, Danny Ferry, Steve Alford, Christian Laetner, Joe Smith, Raef Lafrentz, Jaque Vaughn, Mateen Cleeves, Shane Battier, Luke Jackson, Evan Turner.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Ahh yes, all 7 of those players you named will be future Hall of Famers.

Other than Kyrie and Grant Hill, the other guys are mediocre players. I don't think they're even in the same sentence as AWESOME, let alone REALLY REALLY AWESOME.

Brand - make the all-star team multiple times
Boozer - make the all-star team multiple times
Deng - make the all-star game once, still pretty good player
Grant Hill is great player but because of his injury he didn't accomplish much in his career than the three guys above

Elton Brand came into the league and averaged pretty much 20&10 for 8 straight years, peaking in 05-06 when he was an MVP candidate averaging 24.7ppg, 10rpg and 2.5 bpg. I think you could say he was 'awesome.' Yeah, he had a injury and fell off pretty bad after he signed with the Sixers, but his time as a Clipper, he was one of the best big men in league.

Jay Williams had a weak J and didn't stun with his bball IQ. He would have had a fun time in th post 04 environment though, and he did flash signs of development. Handled and speed alon would have probably made him a 16-18 ppg and 7 apg guy.

Not HoF, but solid. Kenny Anderson-ish.

cant you say that about a lot of schools?

Even if you couldn't, it's a worthless argument. At that level of play, schools aint nothing but colors. It's not like Coach K is such an awful coach that he would ruin a good prospect's development. If the guy was going to be good, doesn't matter if he went to Duke, UNC, or Oregon St.

Bobby Hurley - also a Dookie. Both were pretty disappointing their rookie years but their saving grace was due to injuries supporters can say, if only they hadn't been injured, what could have been.

Truth is, these guys would be journeyman fringe players unless they got on the right team like scrubtastic Fisher.

80s/90s? He'd be a 12th man at best

Todays game? 3-5th best player in the league

I think he would have been a Jameer Nelson type player. A strong all around point guard that is just slightly underwhelming based on his abilities and college success.

Who knows? He was really held back in his rookie year by Cartwright's "triangle" offense. Didn't seem to understand how to play within it most games. Maybe would have looked similar to a prime Derron Williams? But it is tough to say.

Per his sports reference page he was attempting 8 3s per 36 hitting at 39% in college. That's pretty good if he could translate it to the NBA.

Jay Williams sucked. He lacked size and athleticism and could barely even dunk. He would have been a journeyman at best and would've probably scraped out a 7-8 career playing on multiple teams.

JWill didn't look like he was going to be very good after his rookie season. That Bulls team was brutal and JWill probably would've ended up playing for them for only a few seasons then going to play starting PG in a reduced role for some stacked team.

Bad.

He was just a bad player.

Damian Lillard reminds me a little of Jay Williams. He had an underwhelming rookie season but he was a talented player that I believe could have easily impreoved.
