The funny thing is that Jeremy Lin saved Mike D'Antoni's career, not D'Antoni saving Lin.

Lin post all star
22 PER (19th best in nba post all star )
Only 29 min per game
2.0 TOs a game
Scott is the worst coach I've ever seen, against the hated Celtics this year, Scott benched Lin the whole 4th Quarter because he was scoring to much (12 in the 3rd Q) because if Lin scored to much, Scott couldn't start his boy price the next game, Scott needed to make sure Lin didn't do to well
Can't make this stuff up

You realize linsanity happened when melo was hurt and when he came back they had chemistry problems because melo needed to ISO like harden and Kobe right?
Then lin was hurt for the playoffs
That isnt 100% accurate. The chemistry problems were under Dantoni and lasted for about two weeks. Two weeks in which everyone turn on Carmelo forgetting that he wasn't on vacation for 7 days. He got injured and was working his way back in and being somewhat unsuccessful at it. New York media as usual immediately made a circus out of it and built a rivalry between them. Dantoni ended up getting fired and Woodson came in and had the Knicks win 6 in a row with Lin and Melo playing great. There were games where Melo/Amare and Lin were sitting out fourth quarters with 20 pt leads.
That wasn't a great story in NY
Then Lin got hurt for the rest of the year.
Not to mention Carmelo averaging 15.6 shots, and 5.3 assists + turnovers a game (that's only 20.9 possessions) while Lin averaged 11.9 shots and 10.6 assists + turnovers a game (which is 22.5 possessions).
Lin got the ball plenty he's just not good enough to demand the touches he got during Linsanity (I mean his efficiency was average and the team offense wasn't good during that stretch. Actually the defense is why they won) and he's not good without the ball so he won't stick on a good team unless its as a sixth man.

Lin is a good dude. It's sad the ultimate irony is the pressure from his own fanbase and the expectations set play a significant role in Lin's perceived struggles. He just wants to ball in the NBA for himself because it's what he loves to do. He wouldn't have been sleeping on couches with a Harvard degree in hand if it wasn't his passion.
And to the whole Wade/LeBron thing, how can that be interpreted as prejudice? Lin was being hallowed as the next big thing and two of the best in the game decided to prove otherwise. It IS a competition at the end of the day, not a hugbox cultural showcase.

i don't question jeremy lin's toughness. he goes up and tries to block the shots of bigs in the paint. i know he puts the effort in.
i also knew he was a hard worker. he improved his left hand a lot by going from 12th percentile to 56th. this is key. he should focus on actual skills instead of raw physical stats.
my recommendation for him is to put less emphasis on anaerobic, fast-twitch fibers. i got into an argument one time with someone who said jeremy lin should bulk up like dwyane wade so that he could explode and dunk to "prevent injuries". he didn't know anything about basketball.
the problem was when lin tried to force his way to the basket and then end up against a wall of elite defenders. he would get stuck and commit a turnover. you need skills to bail you out of that situation.
after the all-star break, i've been impressed with his mid-range shooting and shot selection. i hope he can continue to improve his skills while spending less time trying to pump up his upper body like a football player.

spaceballer wrote:ESPN has a new well-written article out today. It's about Jeremy Lin, but I thought it was interesting beyond the focus on one player. In the NBA, players change teams and coaching situations/systems all the time. This piece gives us a glimpse behind the scenes at how two coaches can approach the same player differently. The quotes and interviews shows us a bit of their thinking.
Lots of interesting nuggets and tidbits in the long article. Like LeBron and Wade fighting over who gets to defend Lin in the Miami game during Linsanity.
Interesting that D'Antoni and Lin are still in touch and they talked at 3 AM immediately after Lin learned he got traded.

Lin enters this maze alone. But one such night earlier this season, around 1 in the morning, his iPhone blinked awake with a directive from a teammate who was sleepless in his own way.
I hope you're absolutely pissed off at the way the season's going, Bryant wrote.
This is why I like Kobe, Lin can't help but be inspired by that text and ready to comeback next season to get back to the top. But getting a quality night rest helps, you gotta forget everything that happened during the day and just get that sleep.

Jeremy isn't going to be as good as he once was until he's playing in D'antoni's SSOL system

Why? Lin under D'Antoni plays the exact opposite of the Spurs. If you ever watch Lin when a teammate has the ball, he's nothing like what Popovich looks for in his players.

Correct. If you wanna play for Pop, you have to know how to constantly move and play without the ball. Lin has always been a useless player without the ball in his hands.

linsanity = short season, every other player extremely tired, more than usual since its a special kind of season, here comes this guy like a blur gets ultra hot and kills them all. When you move at 2x the speed of other people stuff will happen
guy gets tired, has chemistry issues with other players and starts to look normal
but somehow some people want to focus on the coach, the system or the race, ive said it before, ramon sessions once got extremely hot towards the end of his first or second season, ha had some 50 point games, everybody was trippin, some dude in the memphis organization asked marc gasol what he thought about trading mike conley, whose first 2 seasons were a little rough, for sessions, he said "are you crazy, conley is twice the pg" or something like that.
I guarantee you if you put every player in the nba on a lockout shortened season, and after 2 months of crazy schedule, you unleash lin on the league with green light to shoot, linsanity will probably happen again, until he gets tired
