Bucks have Middleton (most likely will stay), Jabari, Giannis. No room for Thompson. Hornets already have a bunch of big men.

Man, you want to pay 10+ million to a PF who doesn't score, you better have a very unique set of scorers around him. I'm not saying the Cavs don't need him but I'm saying that if you're another team who wants to get Thompson, be careful what you wish for.

It would be so Cleveland to S&T him for like two smaller pieces that fits their system while some team gives them the max.

I do think they wont retain both of them especially for the max.

Cavs already offered TT 13M per knowing very well Love will demand a max contract as well. An extra 1-3M per year won't change anything since TT is proving to be a big timer playoff asset.

It's absolutely idiotic to pay Love a max deal and then keep Thompson for that money because only one of them can play the minutes necessary to make their contract worth it. While the Cavs need protection in case Love leaves, if they just think throwing money at the team is going to win, they're probably mistaken.

I'd be shocked if Kevin Love stayed long term if Tristian Thompson gets a long term contract that pays him 12+ million a year; it's just too likely that some nights Love won't be out there and he'll be the first one to get blamed with any issues the team has. I doubt Love makes a quick decision and Tristian might force Cleveland's hand; the only reason they might not force that hand is LeBron's agent is also Thompson's agent so what's best for TT might not be best for LeBron.

Toronto will likely go after him between 14 & 15 million he is a good fit and solves one of there 2 major problems a starting PF. Jonas will get 33 to 35 minutes a game next year when he did that last year he averaged 16PPG & 11.5 RPG. Neither Amir or Patterson were especially good defenders last year putting tremendous pressure on Jonas defensively especially with Casey's erratic defensive plan.

How people are saying he will get the max is beyond me, can anyone name 3 things TT does well, just to justify a max contract? He deserves it though because he is literally deciding outcomes of NBA playoff games with his rebounding and shot blocking. I think Thompson is a great role player but you don't get far paying role players 12-14 million. Much like the Draymond Green question, just because he has success doing his role on one team doesn't mean the next team will be better with him filling that role. How many teams can afford to have a PF out there who doesn't score nor does he pose a great threat in P&R? The teams who need him most are teams that have scoring at the 1-2-3-5 spots and have shooters to space the floor so Thompson's lack of shooting isn't an issue and teams are not able to focus on Tristian full time.

One of the advantages he has is he plays PF next to a big C or he plays a small ball five next to three-four shooters around him. How many teams can offer him that type of system to come play in and afford to pay him 12-14 million?

Kenneth Faried, a better offensive version of Thompson because he can shoot a little better, is "way overpaid" at 12 million a year.

LeBron is going to be a free agent. The Cavs can't afford to cheap out and hurt his feelings. They are going to have to overpay their free agents this Summer to keep him happy. It's not as if they will have any cap flexibility in the near future anyway.
