Seriously though, you gotta admit that it'd be 100x more entertaining for the 4 months he owned it before he colossally messed up. Plus Knicks fans would have some nice Schadenfreude.

In all seriousness, Peter Holt. He doesn't seem to be cheap, and he doesn't meddle with the GM or Coach. The NBA would be a better league with 30 of him.

There's really only couple ways to answer this question.

1. Outrageous figure like Sterling, Dolan, etc.

2. A figure with a great image like Cuban, Peter Holt (ps. he's actually worth only 200m so IMO he's bit too poor for the job).

3. My team's owner.

anyway, don't think the league would fair as well with one singular owner.

I hate the premise. League is stronger with 30 owners(including the "bad" ones) than it would be with a singular guy no matter how much you might love him. And if you think about it for just even a second you can see why.

Cuban is the only choice I think. He has always tried to hold ref's accountable which I think is the biggest issue in the game. I'd love to see all star calls abolished - call every one the exact same.

Whoever it is they need to change the officiating, its so rigged. Lets go back to basketball.

My serious/somewhat biased opinion is Peter Holt. Dude doesn't tinker or mirco manage, he delegates, puts the right people in power and trusts their decisions and opinions.

Living or dead? All-time, Dr. Buss is the GOAT owner. Currently, I'd take Cuban or Holt. Or Dan Gilbert.

Ballmer seems like an up-and-comer, though. It won't surprise me if he turns out to be a really good owner.
