seems like a good signing. unlikely he loses value over the course of the contract and it's always possible to move a shooter on a reasonable contract. if he can play decent defense, then this reminds me of the suns signing jared dudley a few years back.

so basically, look for OKC to trade singler and two second rounders for a Bledsoe type player

He can shoot, and that's it. Would you give Matt Bonner 5/25? This is dumb.

He's way too passive in the NBA as compared to when he played for Duke

I just don't see an nba caliber championship role player when I look at him.

He'll just be Durant's backup & be happy collecting his 5 mil for 12 mins a night lol

Kyle is the quintessential gamer.

And, if you really were a Duke fan, you'd know that. He puts it all out there on the floor every single game. Not the best shooter or the best athlete, but he always works hard and makes the smart basketball play.

Actually shooting is the one thing he can do.

James Harden is getting paid 3 Kyle Singlers. That's why the Thunder had to deal him.

Presti values personality/character more than effectiveness, with whatever deal they are about to give Kanter, they coulda had Harden for 4 years at 60 lol.

OKC basically can't offer more than $3 million to any players whose rights they don't own. So, save a sign and trade, the Thunder have to sign Singler and Kanter if they want contributing players.

The last few years of this deal will be like $3 million. Singler is a 40% three point shooter, good defender, and willing to accept whatever role. I don't see why everyone is so worried...

The great white hope has arrived! And his name is Kyle Singler. And like I always say; if it's not white, it's not right!

I don't know. Maybe I dreamt he was a good defender.

Yuck. He's not a good enough player to give a five year deal to. I don't care if it's for the league minimum.

He is a good defender. Not all-NBA Defense second team or anything, but slightly better than average. Very rarely has lapses in awareness, doesn't take plays off, pretty good lateral quickness. Many Pistons fans will disagree, but I blame that largely on the year he started most of the season at shooting guard. That did not go well. But when guarding his own position, he's good. I think this is an excellent signing and that the Pistons have made a mistake going with the lesser Morris twin over Singler on a similar contract.

They didn't "go with the Morris twin" over Singler, they traded Singler as part of the huge package (*cough*) to get Reggie Jackson. Despite Singler not playing particularly well for the Thunder, they chose to keep him for another five years.

Whatever, I guess. He's not a good defender at any position no matter how "smart" he plays... he's too slow to close out on shooters, and not quick enough to stay in front of people if he plays tight. He gets out-muscled by the bigger guys and out-quicked by the smaller ones. He can shoot, yes, and he doesn't do anything particularly dumb on a regular basis. I do think he's a NBA player, but I don't think he's the kind of guy you need to commit to for five years. $5 million is probably the market, as crazy as that sounds.
