Re: Great Value/Awful contracts of free agency so far
Good: Middleton, Green, Davis, Love, Leonard will be good
Okay: Dragic, Amir Johnson (would be good if it was a 2/20M contract), Aminu
Bad: Chandler, Carroll, Singler (too long), Knight

even as a Raptors' fan, Demarre Carroll contract is pretty bad. I like him as a player but that's too much money for a role player (yes i know the cap is going up) who may not be as good outside the Hawks system.
Danny Green is a steal but it's a bit unfair to evaluate his deal because he gave the Spurs a hometown discount to let them sign LMA.

Ajinca is a great deal IMO. One I never thought would happen.

Says many non Bucks' fans too, which you would have seen if you didn't have selective vision.

Nets apparently don't operate under the same CBA as the rest of the league, so you cant pass judgement.

Goran Dragic and Deng deal were bargains for the Heat considering Heat didnt have many alternative options
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

That's not what bargain means.

Iman Shumpert $40M/4 seems like an impressive amount of money for a career 11 PER.

Will he get much playing time? The Celtics also signed Amir Johnson for $24 million (not a good deal IMO) and still have Sullinger on the roster.

Jerebko and Amir's second years aren't guaranteed, it's basically a 1 year/5 mil deal for Jerebko, 1/12 for Johnson. I agree that it is kinda confusing that Sully is still on the roster, but a trade could be coming. I think the AAV for Amir is too high, but Ainge likely had to do it to get that unguaranteed second year which can be a trade chip (a la Brendan Haywood) or instant cap space for 2016 FAs if he's waived.

Now that I know that (and knowing is half the battle) those deals aren't bad. It makes a huge difference that the 2nd years aren't guaranteed.

As a Bulls fan, I agree. Middleton for under the max is a great deal.

Sure, here's my thinking:
I've been preaching the high contract market for six months now... maxes for Middleton, Green, etc... but this particular contract is excessive, even in this economic environment.
Yeah, he's a solid defender, but he's only been a starter for two years, averaging 12 points, 5.5 boards, 1.7 assists, 1.4 steals in just under 32 minutes a game. Low turnovers, but that's because he doesn't create anything off the dribble at all, just shots and quick movement offense passes. He's also a month from turning 29, and while he was a very good 3p% shooter last year (39.5%), he only shot 70.2% from the line. That's not a 9 million dollar player under last year's cap, which is what 15 million will be in two years. He's majorly overpaid this year, somewhat overpaid next year, and still not a bargain once the cap settles -- and that's assuming he's just as good and efficient as he is now as he ages and plays for an inferior coach and team.
Really bad contract, and I won't say that very often this off-season. Danny Green was a freaking steal in comparison. Just goes to show what a good performance in the playoffs will get you.
So you actually think that one of the best 3 & D wings is not worth 9 million dollars on last years cap?! its nice to trot out box core stats without paying any attention to the things he does well. Hes an excellent defender with good size for the wing, hes drastically improved his 3 point shot and was actually elite last year. Couple that with his elite off ball play, especially cutting and getting open for shots. i think its a great signing that complements Demar and Kyle really well.
