Could you see Dirk demanding a trade?

Post#1 » by DaddyCool19 » Wed Jul 1, 2015 11:09 pm

Let's say the Mavs can't sign any decent Free Agents and look like a 30-35 win team after the Free Agency. Could you see Dirk feeling like he was betrayed by his front office because he took a huge paycut and all the Mavs did was to overpay for someone like Parsons and don't sign anyone who could make his last 2 years worthwhile.

I'm from Germany and I hope he doesn't spends his last 2 years on a 30 wins team.

Even if he hated his situation his personality is so incredibly nice that he would just want to fix the situation lol

Nope he will play out his contract and retire. He knew what he was signing up for, and it's not like Dallas has not be trying to sign the top free agents they've just been unsuccessful like the vast majority of teams.

Uh, the Mavs had one of the highest payrolls in the league last year at $83M. Mark Cuban tried putting Dirk's paycut to good use. It didn't work out the way they hoped, but they didn't "betray" Dirk.

No. Dirk is a Mav for life. They're going to take care of him long after his career is over. No need for him to be mad about anything.

I'd be heartbroken, especially if the Mavs end up with the 8th pick and have to give it to the Celtics.

No, he wants to finish his career as a mav and that's the right thing to do

Don't see him demanding a trade but if we really miss out on our targets this summer I'd be pissed in Dirk's place, too.

That guy passed on big time money (Morey offered him max reportedly) in order for Cuban to overpay Parsons and probably Robin freaking Lopez?

Mavs better get that Jordan/Matthews signings done or Celtics are looking forward to a lottery pick in 2016.

Wining one chip vs two, what's the difference? Worth losing your legacy of lifetime Mavs? Hell no.

Exactly. Dirk would never ask for a trade and will never play for another team. He will likely play out his last two years and then retire. Then Cuban will give him whatever job he wants in the front office.

He spent the last two year being close to the whole draft process and in the war room. Considering how involved he is in the Euro Basketball scene I would not be surprised to see him hired on as a Euro talent scout for the Mavs.

I definitely cant see Dirk asking for a trade. He's old school and loyal, a true high character guy.

He shouldn't have to ask for a trade though. If they strike out in free agency, Cuban should ask him if he'd like to be traded to a contender to maybe be the missing piece and go for it. Also assuring Dirk that once he retires hes guaranteed a position with Dallas in the front office

He's way too loyal for that, and you have to admire him for that. But that being said, he should, he has been screwed year after year by his own franchise.
They've never been able to surround him with legitimate star players, and they will miss out again. Once again, Dirk will be forced to play with a bunch of half-decent role players, only that he is too old now to carry them alone.

Once Dirk retires, the shortcomings of the Mavs' front office which have been disguised by Dirk's greatness will be exposed.

No, he would just retire instead of going somewhere else

Mavs should do him a solid and trade him to a contender. The Hawks could use him.

Nope. Timmy, Manu and Dirk are both going to finish their NBA careers with a single team. Not like these team-hopping younguns and their superfriends teamups.
