Execs Believe Love Could Eventually Be Traded By The Cavs

The Cleveland Cavaliers are confident that a smaller lineup of Tristan Thompson at center and Kevin Love at power forward will work.

But if it doesn't, Love could eventually surface in trade discussions, according to executives around the NBA.

“Maybe in February or in the summer, you could see Love being talked about,” one league executive said. “If he stays healthy next year, that is what is most important. If he plays 75 games or so, then he is still going to have a lot of value, even if his numbers are not great. So it is still a chance for them to get assets going forward and if you gave up the No. 1 pick, you need to be able get something that will help long-term.”

Love agreed to a five-year, $110 million contract on the first day of free agency.

Execs believed he'd leave, they believed that he'd be in a sign and trade, they believed the Knicks and Lakers were getting all the free agents, they believed Lebron was going to a bigger market, they believe Westbrook and Harden are teaming up in 3 years......

I said before I wouldn't sign long term in Cleveland if I was Love because he be the first person to trade when they need something. His contract will be easy to move when the cap is 105 million. I'm not buying that Cleveland will pay him 20 plus million a year to spread the floor for 5 years.

He's got a great, moveable contract under the ballooned Salary Cap, however I don't see that happening unless Cleveland spins its wheels for a couple of seasons.
