Blazers: "collective sigh of relief knowing Aldridge is not returning"

Post#1 » by Ginger Bean » Sat Jul 4, 2015 9:12 pm

What do you make of this article? It sounds salty as hell, but there have been rumors of this kind for a long time. It doesn't seem like the Spurs to go after a guy who is this moody/thin-skinned, so I'm inclined to not believe it.

(Sorry, my autocorrect changed Blazers to Blazed -- I don't know how to edit from the RealGM app on iPad.)

So they can build around Lillard.
Looking for a new signature. Currently, still evaluating.

Jason Quick is a known agitator, click-bait, trouble-causing dramatic jerk. Most of the players throughout the last 15 years have hated him (and John Canzano). Take everything he says re: problems with a grain of salt. He is unprofessional in every sense of the word, and holds grudges against players that won't buy into his stuff - or even give an impression that they will. There's a reason most Blazers fans dislike him and there's a reason that absolutely 99.9% of the local media in Portland cannot break a story before national news these days. Funnily enough, there's only been three good reporters covering the Blazers in the last ten years and two of them have moved on (Candace Parker, Chris Haynes) and one remains and does not work at any big publication for the state/city.

Quick is a known hack, so I wouldn't read too much into it. He and LMA have had a testy relationship for years it seems.

That being said, some of it speaks for itself (not flying back with the team in the playoffs was a pure b*tch move on Aldridge's part).

I will echo the other Blazers fans sentiment that Quick is a hack and a bit of a diva himself. So take his article with a health douse of salt.

That said, Aldridge was know to be very sensitive and take offense at the littlest thing so there is some truth in that. I recall him getting all bent out of shape when Brandon Roy forgot to invite him to a dinner that a few of the other players went to during a road trip. LA held on to that for months.

Will be interesting to see what happens after Pop goes nuclear on him at some point.

A note to assistant coaches, maybe don't spill the beans that your teams star is leaving when the FO is still claiming and trying to bring the guy back. Just a thought

This is literally the first time I have ever seen Lamarcus referred to as a superstar. Did he become a superstar because he decided to sign with the Spurs?

It's a bit of overstatement to say the team had a collective sigh of relief for players of his caliber
do not grow on trees but as the Spurs will find out later,, he can be a real pain in the butt.

As long as the Spurs veteran players and Pop are on the scene, he should be fine and if the team
is winning, might even agree to play center on a regular basis. Things might go downhill when
they leave for he might come to resent Kwahi Leonard's claim to team leadership.
