I think Derrick Rose would win if he's healthy at the time.

Lay ups are boring. It takes no skill to make a lay up> What would someone do that we haven't already seen?

Don't tell me you don't want to see Durant vs. Casspi one more time.
That event could have been almost passable if instead of televising it live they accelerated the results to just show the shots.

How about a reverse limbo Slam dunk where the basket raises 4" per round......that would be interesting after the 4th round

Re: All-star weekend event: Layup contest
I would like to see a free throw contest. Different from normal free throws, they need to either shot 100 FTs in given time see who has the highest %, or see who makes the first 100 free throws.

No thanks.. But if it is a a one on one all star challenge game then I'm all for it
To succeed, attitude is equally as important as ability.

Re: All-star weekend event: Layup contest
Just combine all other events, 1 set of three point shots (say one each for spot), dribble through obstacles (this time, behind the back passes are required on certain "stations", between-the-legs dribble in certain spots, then a slam dunk (which gets additional score for quality)
Think of it as the Obstacle Challenge on Steroids

this is an excellent idea, every dunker smokes ounce of chronic and tries to dunk. winner gets the larry sanders trophy.

That would be cool out even a two on two. I would loved to see that.

The only thing that would save the all star weekend is a one on one competition.
Or do World Cup basketball version( since tips would be boring at the nba hops level).

Re: All-star weekend event: Layup contest
Am I the only one that thinks a one on one competition will be boring as hell? Most of the time these players are going to just post each other up and shoot jumpers all day long. The defender would gladly sag off the player and not risk getting crossed the eff up.
What would make it interesting is if the only points that count are dunks and/or 3 pointers.

Sounds about as entertaining as the rest of the all star weekend.
Also Kyrie would win.

But you have to see it live when it's in the allstar weekend. Also, even the "highlights" that were shown later were pretty sad.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Agree with that. (Howard superman dunk, Mozgov's Griffin dunk....) Btw, I'm no English native speaker, but what's the difference when the commentators say "lay up" or "lay in"?

What about free throw shooting contest? Or bench celebration contest?
