League Pass alert lineups

Post#1 » by tooler » Tue Aug 18, 2015 3:23 pm

Post a lineup for your team (or any team) next season you expect to be so wildly entertaining that everyone should tune in to watch. It can be a quirky group of shooters who can't defend, a squad of athletes that don't know how to play basketball, or a trainwreck of clashing playstyles.

Try to avoid starting lineups unless there is something goofy or unique about them. For example, we all know the starters for championship contenders will be worth watching. You don't need to be a homer about it.

Be sure to explain your reasoning!

I'll start with the Orlando Magic:

Elfrid
Oladipo
Hezonja
Gordon
Dedmon

Four top 10 picks, crazy athleticism, individual defense, and transition offense. Their half-court sets will probably devolve into Hezonja taking contested 30 foot jump shots.

Dewayne Dedmon is our loveable undrafted energy big who only wants to block shots or make putback dunks on every play. He fouls so much you'll have to tune in quickly!

Sure:

Westbrook
Morrow
KD
Ibaka
Kanter

I don't think that's the starting lineup, and they may be bad defensively but could probably put up crazy offensive numbers.

Also, any lineup with Adams and McGary has entertainment value for me as 2 hustle/energy big men who aren't afraid to do the dirty work for the team.

I don't know what Hezonja brings, but that other 4 has the makings of an elite defense.

Put Kobe at center for an all chucker guard lineup!!

It's fun to think about Winslow in place of Hezonja in that lineup. Barely a lick of offense, but how much would you really need?

I got a few interesting ones

Det: Jackson/KCP/Johnson/Ersan/Drummond
I just wanna see that PnR attack with the spacing. I'm also really curious how KCP/Johnson/Ersan perform defensively as a unit.

NYK: Grant/Afflalo/Carmelo/Porzingis/Lopez
I'm curious about how these players play off Melo and whether Melo can benefit from their skills. I also think this unit has the potential to be offensively explosive.

ORL: Oladipo/Hezonja/Gordon/Harris/Vucevic

I'm really curious how this would go defensively. I also wonder if there is enough playmaking for this unit to gel on offense.

MIL: Vasquez/Middleton/Giannis/Jabari/Monroe
Starting unit with Vasquez for shooting. I'd love to see Giannis/Jabari handle the ball more in this lineup. Maybe run some triple post stuff. 4/5 of these guys can post and pass.

PHI: Jackson/Stauskas/Covington/Noel/Okafor
This might end up being the starting unit, but I'm curious what they can do with this lineup. There would be decent spacing and they could run actions through Okafor in the post or PnR with Noel.

Indy could have some interesting ones like:

Hill
Ellis
Miles
PG13
Turner

You can put Stuckey in as a guard or Jordan Hill in as a center. Will be a lot of shots chucked.

Lillard
McCollum
Aminu
Vonleh
Plumlee

Does anyone not think that's going to be a fun team to watch, regardless of how bad they are going to be wins wise?

Not sure I'm seeing 'fun.' Lillard is often a nice watch and McCollum's got some good craft to his game, but the other three can't create at all and can't shoot enough to free up backcourt space. Vonleh's development will be interesting to follow but this team looks pretty lame to watch, even if they manage a couple of nice dunks per game. They'll be like the NYK teams of 2-3 years ago: a ball-dominant high usage guy, some athletes, and some heat check guys.

It will be interesting without a doubt. I doubt this team will be high in the win column but I'm looking forward to seeing how they play. Stotts can make it work to some extent.
