Spurs are Rolling | 11-3, 2nd in West

Post#1 » by laploutocratie » Tue Nov 24, 2015 3:47 am

With LMA clearly still not fully integrated based on watching the games. And Manu looks like he's having a renaissance season, with Kawhi quietly establishing himself as a Top 10 player.

Can this team put it all together and gel in time to beat the behemoth that is the Warriors?

Tony Parker is still the key.

I honestly think it will come down to the Cavs, the Warriors, the Spurs, and maybe the Thunder for the title. I'm not too sure about OKC because Donovan looks even worse than Brooks, their defense is inconsistent, and their depth is shoddy, but just having Durant and Westbrook will give you a shot.

Rolling is OK but dominating is better.

Yeah rolling isn't the best word to describe the Spurs, considering that the Warriors are playing on another level.

Honestly, I think if you were to ask Pop and the Spurs they would say that they need to work on alot of things on offense. Their overall defense has been beyond great, but their lack of consistant shooting from the outside is something that is lingering and we aren't getting anything from our backup swing players in Anderson and Simmons. Manu has been great(25 PER) but we can't expect him be consistent at this point of his career. Danny Green has been in a deep slump from deep and people under estimate his importance when he has it going. I hope that the Spurs can pick up someone on the wavier wire during the season to shore up outside shooting.

They have beaten one quality oppenant in Grizzlies. They have lost to OKC, Pelicans and Wizards. Rolling hardly more like easy schedule.

We could only take one game off the Warriors at best if we started a 7 game series against them tomorrow, the Spurs have a long way to go as of right now. However with Kawhi and Green we have the wing defender to keep up with Curry/Thompson and in Aldridge/Duncan we have size to punish them if they go small.

If anyone can do it the Spurs can, but we're not even close yet.

To be honest, I don't even think they look that convincing at the moment yet they have a great record. As always, I think they'll look scary come playoff time with Aldridge/West properly integrated.

The Spurs have yet to play ONE good offensive game IMO. Defense has been incredible. Danny Green played his best game of the season tonight and he was still just aight.

Have you looked at the NBA standings lately? Nearly 2/3 of the league is around .500. No one has broken out yet, to say someone is a bad loss or a good win.

They've been better than I thought they'd be this early in the season. Integrating Aldridge and adjusting the offense was always going to be a lengthy process considering the continuity the Spurs developed from 2012-2014. However, the question was whether Aldridge's offense would make up for the drop-off defensively and so far the defense has gotten even better. They're at about 70% of what they could be come playoff time, which is exciting since they're 11-3. Danny's game was most dependent on the prior offensive system, so he's struggling the most with the transition right now. If he can figure out how/where to get his looks off Kawhi/LMA iso's as opposed to Tony/Manu's dribble penetration, the first team offense will improve dramatically

Spurs have played decently even if they have been awful on offense most of the time except in spurts, their defense is there. We've gotten small glimpses of how much firepower they have when they're clicking, but they haven't been able to put it together for a full 48 minutes yet. Guys are still running into each other and the spacing isn't there, but all things considered, I can't be too upset, they could easily (and should have been) undefeated too if not for some stupid mistakes late in games or bad moments. Granted, they've had a cupcake schedule so far, but it's nice to see them taking care of business early.

Love the Spurs. This is the Spurs at like 70% at best, and they're still doing a good job.

Can't wait to see them come Playoff time with Aldridge and West being fully integrated, and Green getting his stroke back again!

They are doing well but honestly they probably woulda started like this last year if Leonard wasn't hurt.

Actually I think they did start off pretty much exactly the same, but the injuries started in December after the nice beginning and they went 9-10 in one of the more brutal months I can remember in Spurs history

I dunno but I saw some highlights of vintage Tony Parker. They need him back to make some noise.
