Report: Kings minority owners want to take control from Vivek Ranadiv

Kings minority owners have quietly explored ways to seize controlling interest from Ranadive, sources told The Vertical, but on this there is little recourse. Owning an NBA team has become almost bulletproof, with an owner-friendly CBA redirecting the money and billions in television revenue set to flow into the league’s coffers in the coming year. Ranadive’s mismanagement has set the rebuilding Kings back years, but that alone won’t be enough for anyone to remove him.

Without Vivek wouldn't the team not even be in Sacramento ?

I understand he's made a lot of rookie owner mistakes, but it seems like having any NBA team is better than no NBA team.

What the heck happened to the Kings? They were in the 8th spot but after Cousins scored 50+ pts they fell apart in a hurry

Umm...I can only assume his wife is amazing (based on daughter). He's doing something right...just not as an NBA owner.

Don't mean to pile on but...the only talented draft pick they've made in the last 5 years is Cousins...and he came with major emotional baggage.

So they've drafted horribly, fired the only solid Coach they've had in a long time...currently have a team with possibly some of the worse character guys in the NBA as "leaders" of the team and an old SOB of a coach. That's doing things about as wrong as you can.....

They need to draft better and be more patient. Switching GM's and coaches every few months isn't going to help the team.

Yep, it's the Browns model of franchise building. You should never go full Cleveland Browns.

Edit: For Kings fans out there Vivek will get better over time. MJ was easily the worst owner in the NBA when he first bought controlling interest of the team, but he's come a long way since then. Vivek, if given time, likely will too.

Thank God the Pistons have a rich AND reasonable owner in Gores, who doesn't think he is smarter than everyone else. Ranadive would be a nightmare owner. Remember when this clown wanted the Kings to implement the 4 on 5 defense so that they could cherry pick all game? :lol:

The WCS pick has been great so far, unfortunately he doesn't get much time on the court though. He and Cousins look like they could be a hell of a duo. Vlade's first draft was a good one.

Fun fact: I briefly dated a woman who used to date Ranadive. She was a dreadful person.

Perhaps a minority owner can try to choke Ranadive, unseating the Warriors permanently for the most dysfunctional organization.
