Non-story. Who cares?

This is the likes of Chris Haynes, Dave McMenamin, Joe Vardon asking this question every 5 days because there isn't anything else for them to write about at the moment.

LBJ said he's already coming back and Rich Paul has told teams he has no interest in taking with other teams. I mean, outside of actually signing, how much more confirmation do we need? The deal will get done when it gets done.

As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, it could be him weighing whether to go 1+1 or lock-in some sort of long-term deal because of the wonkiness of that Over-36 rule he'll run into next year and the uncertainty of new CBA rules. Or he's doing it for JR? We'll surely know if JR ever signs his deal, how quick LBJ follows up with his. I'm sure Rich Paul is throwing Jamal Crawford's contract right in the face of the Cavs for the VERY least that they're expecting for JR, and I wouldn't blame him. On paper, JR's earned 3yr/45mil but I could see him pushing for 3yr/52ish range. At the very least, JR is worth more than what Timo/JCraw were able to score. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to that the market has been set and hopefully Cavs don't bungle this where BK or PHI come flyin in with a 20mil/yr offer because both can use SG's. I could see that happening as well.

LBJ has only made >$20mil, 2 out of 13 years in the league. He'll be the NBA's highest paid player in Year 14 for the 1st time in his career. He's only been the outright top salary on his team these last 2 years in CLE. He shared that honor with Bosh all 4 years and was never top salary in his 1st 7 years in CLE where Larry Hughes, Ben Wallace and Shaq were tops in those final years.

As he should.

Why not commit to Cleveland? They put plenty of talent around him, what does he want?

He already did commit to Cleveland. He's said numerous times that he's not going anywhere.

He should sign with the Thunder. It would be delicious.

Probably trying to snake the Cavaliers into resigning JR Smith first

Things like this are why haters are so entertaining.

Yeah, anytime he says or does anything, it's to keep the attention on himself...and then when he's not saying or doing anything, it's to keep the attention on himself.

yup. Rich Paul trying to leverage when there are no other suitors for JR.

This is Rich Paul's only negotiating tactic. (i.e. Eric Bledsoe, Tristian Thompson)

Yes and yes. Also, the timing of his signing might have to do with the new CBA next summer.

We only have Iguodala and KD at SF position. We could use a LeBron for vet minimum

Vet min plus, 20% ownership of Warriors for each year he plays.

I think he's just screwing with Dan Gilbert. Bit of a powerplay, but no real risk to leave.

The Cavs want to re-sign JR Smith and he wants to sign with the Cavs. Right now it's just about agreeing on a number.
