yup. Rich Paul trying to leverage when there are no other suitors for JR.
This is Rich Paul's only negotiating tactic. (i.e. Eric Bledsoe, Tristian Thompson)
Umm, it worked out pretty well for Bledsoe and LBJ wasn't even on the Suns. I'm sure now, ya'll are wishing PHO would've just let him sign with MIN but Rich Paul got over 20+mil more for Bledsoe.
And just because JR might not have any suitors doesn't mean he doesn't have leverage either. No different than TT had last year. Cavs can't replace them.
If TT had just signed the qualifying and played the way he played this past season, I bet you he would've gotten max contract offers from AT least 10 teams this year on the minimum, so, in the end, the Cavs were lucky to lock him in into 2015 prices.
And Rich Paul got decent contracts for Koufos and CoryJo last year for that time. And LBJ had nothing to do with them.
JR is just the unintended beneficiary of being LBJ's friend, teammate and shared agent. I think a lot of guys would like to be in that position when it came to negotiating their next contract or terms.
Come at the king, you best not miss...

IMO LeBron deserves much more flak for this kind of stuff.

We only have Iguodala and KD at SF position. We could use a LeBron for vet minimum

That hurts. My wife keeps telling me that I'm very funny, now I'm wondering if she's been completely truthful.

No Lebron fan but why? If he wanted to go elsewhere he wouldn't wait till the only teams that have cap-space, for his max salary, sucks. He already said he is staying and said he will leave to Rich Paul from here. Pretty much nothing to see here 1+1 (unless he signs a 4 year dea which would be surprising since he would get full bird rights next year)

I think maybe he is trying to get the Cavs to make a move for Demarcus Cousins. I really don't think Lebron wants Kevin Love back for next season, specially with Durant in Golden State now. I would not be shocked if he goes to the Clippers to play with CP3 and Deandre.

1. Polishing his recent championship trophy before messaging Riley
2. Counting the money he is going to make from that Nike contract
3. Waiting for that legendary gift basket from Dan Gilbert
4. Checking with Bosley about that new nano hair transplant system

Enjoying his off season break after winning a championship maybe? I doubt LeBron is thinking much about signing his contract. He already said he'll be in Cleveland & his agent will handle all of the logistics.

I find this idea about Lebron being immature to be quite stupid. He's a business man. The one that is immature is Dan Gilbert. Don't see how anyone can feel bad for him doing wtf he wants with the Cavs after what Gilbert put in that letter.

After leaving CLE in the dust in 2010, and MIA in 2014, I imagine there's some consternation from CLE fans.
By being so nonchalant in not making a quick signing, it probably makes folks question his empathy/consideration for and devotion to the team, organization, and city. Even if it is purely financial reasons holding him back, I can understand why some would be upset by, perceptibly, toying with people's emotions. Lebron's history of passive aggressiveness is well-documented, so this just adds to things as a "great, what's he up to now?"

Why? He's said numerous times he's staying with the Cavs and his agent has quietly told other teams not to bother inquiring about his free agency. He'll be a Cavalier next year. There's zero chance he's going anywhere else.

This isnt about him actually being a threat to leave.
It's about him using that small possibility to assert power and authority over a franchise. Sign my buddies and fire coaches I dont like or I'll leave.
I don't care how good he is, or what success he brings. No player should hold that power over a franchise. And I don't know why he feels the need to flex his muscles in such a way.
Play hard, let your coach and GM do their job and let your game do the talking.
Honestly, it's douchey behaviour.

Re: What's Lebron doing?
Lebron is probably making sure the Cavs do what they need to do to stay a contender. Just like last season how he got his friends their fat contracts, he might be making sure JR Smith gets his.
But all the Cavs need to do is offer a roster spot to Chris Smith and JR will definitely give them a discount.

Or what he's doing is the opposite of what most are saying. He's not taking the max quite yet, instead making sure all the pieces are in place, so that Griffin knows he has flex if he absolutely needs it.

To be fair, people said LeBron was holding out last year to get Tristan Thompson paid, but then LeBron went ahead and signed anyway months before the Thompson situation was resolved. And given that a lot of people think the main reason that LeBron left the Heat was because Arison cheaped out and got rid of Mike Miller to save money after LeBron, Wade, and Bosh sacrificed a few million each to play together, it's pretty understandable for LeBron to make Gilbert put his money where his mouth is before putting pen to paper.

Lebron is a business man? That guy would have no idea how to run a business. He wouldn't show up for work for a week if things didn't go his way.
