Heat - Bosh is unable to play, Whiteside regresses, Winslow, Richardson and Johnson show no signs of improvement and we fall out of the playoffs. Bulls sweep Heat in regular season and Wade has a great year.

Lowry gets a season ending injury and the Raps finish 6-8th in that scenario and a 1st round exit.

Re: Realistic worst-case scenarios for your team?
Barring injuries, which is the obvious answer to this question for any team . . . .
. . . . Replacing George Hill, Ian Mahinmi, and Jordan Hill with Jeff Teague, Thad Young, and Al Jefferson causes the team early issues trying to fit together and find their new identity and they come out of the gates extremely slow, and are not able to make up enough ground late to get a Top 4 seed and home-court in the first round. Improved but less dramatically altered Celtics start fast, Toronto starts fast, stable Detroit makes huge leap, and new look Hawks and/or Knicks and/or Bulls work out well and Pacers end up #7 or #8 and finish with another 1st round exit to Toronto or Cleveland.

Worst record in the league, end up with the fourth pick in the draft going to Philadelphia.

Make it to the finals and go up on the Warriors 3-1. At the end of game 4:
JR Smith has a moment of relapse and backhands Kevin Durant while going up for a "rebound".
JR Smith is suspended for game 5 in Cleveland (Cavs have home court in this scenario) and Durant and Thompson combine for 82 points, leading the Warriors to an improbably victory. Game 6 in Golden State is the Kevin Durant show as he goes off for 41, and then in game 7 in Cleveland Draymond Green goes for a triple double, while Klay Thompson hits a dagger 3 over Kyrie who was switched onto him.

Re: Realistic worst-case scenarios for your team?
It turns out that despite every advanced metric stating to the contrary, Evan Turner was in fact the Celtics' best player and he is found to be irreplaceable, leaving the Celtics with not enough playmakers on the perimeter. Al Horford tears his pec again and Danny Ainge convinces Kelly Olynyk to go on a Mormon mission during the season. Isaiah Thomas convinces DeMarcus Cousins to demand a trade to the Celtics, but the Celtics give up all their BKN picks, Jae Crowder and Avery Bradley to get him. Cousins then punches a ref and is suspended for the year by Adam Silver.
Realistically? Despite adding Horford, the C's still don't have enough floor spacing. The Turner concern is real in the sense that while he isn't very good, his talent (getting to the rim, finding open shooters) will be missed. This Celtics team also has zero rebounding skill on the roster right now.
Barring another move, this team is one Isaiah Thomas extended injury away from being a 40-win team.

Lakers
Ingram and Russell never pan out, or go down with a severe injury.
Deng and Mozgov regress further, and have injury issues over their entire contract.
Clarkson and Randle show no signs of improvement over the next 2 years.

Rondo/Butler/Wade fight over the basketball for the 50 games all three are healthy, yet still manage to make the 8th seed in order to get swept by Believeland.

Worst case scenario for the Knicks?
Everyone that the peanut gallery expects (wants? hopes?) to be injured is injured (basically 3 out of their 5 starters and their 6th man) and the Knicks fail to make the playoffs. But they still win enough to miss out on one of the top potential impact players in the 2017 draft (Giles, Tatum, Jackson, Fultz).

We lose 50+ games.
We are Knicks fans. Our realistic worst outcome is far darker, I'm afraid. Far, far darker.
Big men + feet + 39 wins + no playoffs. Melo's shoulder and/or knee is still a part of it.

KP and Noah bang knees fighting for a rebound and both end up with torn ACLs. Melo lands on a photographer and breaks his ankle. Rose trsts positive for PEDs and is suspended for the year. Jennings gets shot in the kneecap after leaving a strip club.
The rest of the team suffers season ending injuries when the team bus crashes.
The Westchester team becomes our NBA team we end up with the worst record in the league but only end up eith the thitd pick.
Folan fires Jackson, re-hires Thomas as coach after naming himself President AND GM.

For Heat, Bosh comes back and goes down again with bloodclots and Heat get the 8th seed and out of the lottery.

For Toronto I think it's Valanciunas getting injured longterm. Every position they have a capable backup except C. Lost Biyombo and have a rookie C and Bebe as a backup. .......sullinger can play C but I'd just prefer he not be the number 2 plan for an injury there.

Horford and Thomas get hurt and the team wins 35-38 games. The Nets meanwhile end up better than expected and finish higher than Boston.

rondo doesn't fit with the roster
butler is worse playing next to two ball dominant guards
mirotic plays inconsistent enough (but not too badly) so re-signing him long-term becomes a frustratingly difficult decision
none of the young guys take a significant step forward
denzel valentine is clearly not an nba-caliber athlete
butler plays well enough despite all of this to carry the bulls to like 39 wins and the 11th pick
there's only like a...20% chance of this happening though...let's go bulls!
basically sums it up.
