Top 10 is a big stretch.
PER puts him 33rd, which I think is also wrong. If we asked everyone to rank the 10 SG they would like to have on their team, I don't think anyone seriously puts JR in there.
Harden, Butler, Thompson, Wade, DeRozan, McCollum, Reddick, Wiggins/Lavine, Beal, Oladipo. You have 10 there.
And then Tyreke, T. Allen, Lou Williams, Ginobli (probably still more useful last year), Middleton, Batum/Lamb, Fournier, Burks, Monta, E. Turner, Jamal, Kilpatrick, RHJ, Hood...
Plenty of candidates as good if not better.
I mean, while JR is not as good as some of the guys on that list, he fits his role with the Cavs perfectly. He's a spot-up shooter who can create his own shot when necessary, but doesn't need a lot of touches to be effective. When he's hot, you can keep hitting him and watch him rain threes. When he's cold, he's still enough of a threat that the opposing team can't just leave him open. He's basically the ideal complement to a Kyrie/LeBron offense. He provides floor spacing, solid defense, and is a capable passer. He doesn't demand touches and is more than willing to play his role. That hasn't always been the case with JR, but that's the case for Cavs JR.
