Kanter/Singler + 2-3 1st rd for Blake...

In any form of reality, the only construct of a package that Clips should even entertain is centered around;

Kanter; Payne and Dipo.

Get some 1st's, shop DJ to BOS for that BK pick in 2017 or 2018, let CP3 walk and completely reboot with youth and young studs on ridiculously bargain contracts outside of Kanter. Get Clips out of cap hell where they can actually build a better balanced roster where they actually have bench players instead of running a 7man rotation all season. Win/win for everyone. But this doesn't happen unless RW fully commits on re-signing, so, could all be moot.

DJ isn't worth the 2017 BRK pick, let alone 2018. No thanks.

I wouldn't say that Aldridge is a shell of his former self. His numbers were down because he was on a better team but he is still at top power forward in the nba

I think he said as such. He said Aldridge was one of the few stars to go back to their "hometown" BEFORE he became a shell of his former self. Aldridge right now is obviously playing as well as he ever has.

Interesting that he and Howard are basically the same age but one guy is clearly on the physical decline while the other is as good as ever.

Just trying to imagine Blake Griffin leaving the sunny beaches of LA to live in OKC.

More likely that Paul leaves LA and Clippers get Westbrook tbh.

Yeah, pretty much. The going home narrative is highly overstated.

Lebron going home was a nice story and all, but he wouldn't have done it had the Cavs not landed a couple more #1 picks during his time in Miami and/or if Wade's knees were still healthy. He went to the place where he thought he had a better chance at winning. And he was absolutely right, just as he was in 2010. (Essentially, it worked out well for everyone. Heat and Lebron got a couple rings while the Cavs were able to reload on talent, which wouldn't have been possible had Lebron stayed. Very possible none of these 3 entities win a ring during this time had Lebron stayed in 2010).

I thought the plan was to trade Westbrook for spare change and some cheetos and resign Dion Waiters... because we all know he was a part of the greatest backcourt in the NBA.

OK, I had my logical statement to start the thread. That said, I just want to imagine for a short moment Westbrook/Oladipo/Griffin/Adams and all the dunks.

They are probably trying to trade Westbrook and what method is better than faking a future with him in the lineup.

Why would Westbrook agree to an extension? He'll certainly make significantly more by waiting to free agency, extensions are a maximum of 3 years.

I applaud Westbrook as a player to stick around in OKC if he does sign an extension. While I'm not sure if Westbrook is that much better than Paul. LAC isn't exactly getting anywhere in the playoffs year after year.

I think it would a renegotiation ala Harden. But yeah if I am the Thunder I want to lock up Russ by any means possible. And it's not crazy to think they are going to go after other names in FA. All teams should.

That being said, the Clippers are going to do what they can to keep Blake and or get assets for him.

Yeah it would of course be a raise-and-extend, but doing that Russell can only get guaranteed money until 2020. If he waits he can get to 2021 from any team and 2022 from the Thunder which could be worth an extra $80m or so.

anyway common sense of course they would want to sign another star, i'm more interested in how you convince him to come home and convince Russell to stay and not ship off to Boston

I think OKC should target Millsap and Gallinari next free agency. That team would be a real Championship threat.

Probelm is they do have a lot of people leaving next year that they need to resign to big contracts.. Doesn't look like they could afford anyone else once they pay to keep Westbrook, Oladipo, Adams and Roberson.

It's rare that a player leaves a large market team that is more talented to go to a smaller market team that is less talented but good luck

I'm a guy who thinks Westbrook is much more skilled than people give him credit for, but I still wouldn't be surprised if Paul is still just as good a player as him, if not better, in five years. Paul is one of the most skilled point guards to ever play. Those guys usually age pretty well.

That's because it's about total career minutes played and injury history more than it is about pure age. Dwight suffered a major injury and has played more minutes.
