Dellavedova vs Irving

Post#1 » by mcmurphy » Thu Aug 11, 2016 10:41 pm

Watching Dellavedova play in the Olympics these days and especially the beautiful and efficient game of Aussie I wanted to check the Cleveland stats.

Since Delly has never played in the starting lineup in the playoffs, I went to see the stats 2-Man-Lebron combination, Delly-Lebron and Irving-Lebron.

2-Man combination Delly-Lebron:
Regular season
1178mins, +17.9 PTS (100 possessions)
Playoff
154mins, +20.0 PTS

2-Man combination Irving-Lebron:
Regular season
1156mins, +8.3 PTS (100 possessions)
Playoff
672mins, +12.4 PTS

Regular season record (when Delly is into Starting lineup)
10-3 (77% win, 6 Home - 7 Road)

Regular season record (when Irving is into Starting lineup)
37-16 (70% win, 36 Home - 17 Road)

Irving has personal statistics that outclass those of Delly neverthless the team seemed to play better with Delly.
How do you explain it?
Simple statistical anomaly caused by poor statistical confidence?
