Premature All-Star Predictions

Post#1 » by GeorgeMarcus » Fri Nov 25, 2016 11:06 pm

The league is demonstrating a resurgence of elite talent this year, which should make all-star season all the more interesting. Who do you got in the early goings? Who gets snubbed?

My Predictions:
East Starters: John Wall - DeMar DeRozan - Jimmy Butler - LeBron James - Hassan Whiteside
East Reserves: Paul George, Kemba Walker, Paul Millsap, Andre Drummond, Kyle Lowry, Kevin Love, Giannis Antetokounmpo
Notable Absences: Isaiah Thomas, Kyrie Irving, Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, Joel Embiid (limited minutes :( )

West Starters: Chris Paul - Russell Westbrook - Kevin Durant - Anthony Davis - DeMarcus Cousins
West Reserves: Stephen Curry, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard, Blake Griffin, Karl-Anthony Towns, Klay Thompson
Notable Absences: Draymond Green, Mike Conley, Andrew Wiggins, DeAndre Jordan, Marc Gasol, Gordon Hayward, CJ McCollum

Wall/Kemba/Lowry/IT/Kyrie were extremely close, but I stand by it.

Think Wade & George will get voted in but Kemba probably deserves the starting guard spot in the East. I don't think Towns makes it in the West either and DeAndre is more than likely to be in.

Giannis is putting up crazy numbers this year. Don't see how you can put guys like Milsap, Love, Anthony ahead of him.

Starting lineup is a popularity contest, I think Carmelo gets voted in again and Irving gets the starting spot over Lowry this year. Wade could still get voted in as starter over both of them. Could see Thomas/Walker spot coming down to whomever's team has best record.

East Starters: Kyrie Irving - DeMar DeRozan - Jimmy Butler - LeBron James - Carmelo Anthony
East Reserves: Paul George, Kemba Walker, Paul Millsap, Andre Drummond, Kyle Lowry, Kevin Love, Giannis Antetokounmpo
Notable Absences: Isaiah Thomas, John Wall, Dwight Howard, Hassan Whiteside, Kristaps Porzingis, Joel Embiid, Dwayne Wade

For the West, again popularity contest for starters, so I see Curry getting starting guard spot over Paul and then Griffin/Leonard over Davis/Cousins. Coaches will select Draymond over Towns for a reserve spot all day.

West Starters: Stephon Curry - Russell Westbrook - Kevin Durant - Blake Griffin - Kawhi Leonard
West Reserves: Chris Paul, James Harden, DeMarcus Cousins, Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson
Notable Absences: Karl-Anthony Towns, Mike Conley, Andrew Wiggins, DeAndre Jordan, Marc Gasol, Gordon Hayward, CJ McCollum, Zaza Pachulia (falls just 10,000 votes short of beating out Griffin for 3rd forward spot in voting.)

Good point. Hmm maybe giving the Knicks two All Stars would be unfair especially if they're a low seed by the break. K I'll swap out Melo for Giannis. Hawks deserves a representative so I can't take out Millsap.

Dude IT is having a better year than last and as for Porzingis, I think he'll get voted in as a starter by the large Knicks fanbase.

I agree Porziging will get voted due to popularity alone and because he is doing great but i don't see Thomas over Giannis, i may be biased but Giannis is the main reason the Bucks are looking good on some games. His off on are off the chart and he is putting some crazy stats.

You took melo out which is good but i doubt IT gets into it, east is too stacked imo.

What pg do you think is head-and-shoulders above him in the East?

If the Wiz stay healthy I expect them to rebound from a slow start- maybe even compete for the 8 seed. If they do Wall will be a serious candidate. If they don't then you're right.

Why is KP not an All Star in everybody's predictions?

I'd hardly call 21/7 on a 500 team unquestionably All Star worthy. Giannis, Drummond, Howard, even Whiteside are far more worthy.

KP almost made it last year. He's going to make it this year. Drummond on his 7-9 team is worse than the Knicks.

But Drummond is a better player and is The Guy on the Pistons, KP is like a 2nd/3rd option. Plus, Detroit hasn't had Jackson who is probably their 2nd most important player at all this season. They'll definitely have a better record than NYC by the time the break rolls around if he comes back soon.

I'd also say Love had a better chance too if he keeps playing the way he currently is, that's is 5 front court guys right there not including Lebron, PG, Butler, Melo, Millsap who all will probably get in.

If Love keeps putting up 20/10 on a first place Cavs team, he should make it by default.

K. Love is averaging 21.8 ppg and 10.8 rpg this year. Agree Giannis should be in though.
