Voted the Kings for a personal pick :D Would love to see the Kings and Cuz finally get a playoff seed :D.

Though my realistic pick goes to the Pelicans. Who are finally healthy, and I think picking up Dmo is going to be one of the best in season pickups

I think Portland has the most talent, but they don't mesh well. If they can move some pieces (which I imagine they will do), then I think they can get a playoff spot.

I can answer this question better after the trade deadline. Someones gonna make a move. Not sure how many of these teams will.

the 1 v 8 matchup in the West could be a Bloodbath.

but I hope it's the Pelicans. I want to see Davis against the Warriors more than Lillard.

I just don't think Portland is any good, and I think its structural. Two great offensive but defenseless chucking guards and a bunch of scrubs. Of course that was them last year too and somehow they got some magic fairy dust sprinkled on them. Nonetheless, do not remotely believe in them, so am stuck looking for somebody else off that list. Maybe Minnesota. They have the talent, just too young. New Orleans and Sac are in the same boat, one superstud surrounded by not much. But Sac has the better coach and I think have had one of the hardest schedules in the league thus far. Pels of course had the injuries as their excuse. Denver doesn't have the centerpiece, not sure how they hang around.

From the looks of this thread most others agree with you as well, funny how every year they are supposed to not be any good, but as the young guys are improving so is the ability to compete.

Looks like you need to watch more of the Nuggets and Jokic, they have a top offensive team in the league since they put him and Harris back in the starting lineup. Malone still loves to kill the defense by playing Faried as the only big for 15 minutes a game, but the young guys are looking better as the season goes on.

I think it will depend a lot on if anyone makes a deal to improve or tank... but i could definitely see the Nuggets making a run.

Playing much better now with jokic getting minutes and harris back

Dallas is begging to be that team.
You can expect heavy minutes the rest of the season from Dirk and the rest of the veterans. It would be likely that Dallas also trades some young talent for some old veterans to accomplish Mav's trail to the slaughterhouse.

This would be an absolute disaster for them. No one needs a youth infusion more than Dallas.

They're only 3 games back but there are probably too many teams ahead of them to make the playoffs anyway.

Nowitzki doesnt help. He was signed because he helps sell tickets. If anything he'd be part of a stealth tank.

I can't believe the 1st round series is 7 games. They need to cut that back to 5 games again.

Troubadour wrote:The Knicks would currently make the playoffs in the Western Conference, which should illustrate just how mediocre the bottom half of that conference has been to date.

Which team will end up getting swept by the Warriors? The Lakers, Mavericks, and Suns all technically still have a legitimate chance at making the playoffs; however, I cut the poll off at five teams.

Upcoming schedules:

Code: Select all

Portland's Next 10:
@ WAS (Down by 26 in the 2nd quarter)
@ CHA
@ PHI
@ BOS
V LAL
V MEM
V GSW
V CHA
V DAL
@ OKC

Sacramento's Next 10:
V IND
@ MEM
@ CHI
@ DET
@ CLE
@ IND
@ CHA
@ PHI
@ HOU
V PHX

Denver's Next 10:
V ORL
@ LAL
@ SAS
V LAC
@ MIN
V UTA
V PHX
@ PHX
@ LAL
V MEM

New Orleans' Next 10:
V ORL
V BRK
V CLE
V OKC
V SAS
V WAS
@ TOR
@ DET
@ WAS
V PHX

Minnesota's Next 10:
@ SAS
@ LAC
V DEN
@ PHX
V IND
V BRK
V ORL
@ CLE
@ DET
V MEM

This should influence which teams become sellers at the trade deadline. Looking at the next ten games, Denver may have a chance to move up a game or two.

I wouldn't say it's as simple as bottom half is weak, it's how strong those top 5-6 teams are.

i think pelicans but seriously, they all suck so badly, i mean this is sad, 18-24 and 8th seed, this is like the time the pistons made the 8th seed after winning like 35 games. Either way whoever gets in, they're in for 30point losses per night i'd say.

I hope it's not Portland (I'd much rather a potentially significantly better draft pick due to how tight the Eastern Conference is), but unfortunately I think it will be Portland.

I picked the Pelicans. They've been playing really well with Jrue back.

the general consensus on RealGM's Blazers board is that we'd rather have what's looking like the 10th pick in the draft (which is the pick the Blazers drafted McCollum at) rather than to get blown out 4 times by the Warriors, so odds are Portland rallies at the end when smarter teams tank.
