bwgood77 wrote:So, are you good at figuring who might complete a team to elevate them to be a lot more competitive? Lets say they had a reverse draft before the playoff starts, and beginning with the playoff team with the worst record, each team could select any player in the NBA that isn't in the playoffs, and then of course the next team picks, but they obviously couldn't pick that same player, and as it goes on, and any previous players cannot be picked.

Gotta try and fit these guys into playoff rotations I'm guessing. A bit more complicated than it seems at first, since you are drafting for fit rather than BPA for the most part

Portland - Anthony Davis (BPA and need)

Chicago - DeMarcus Cousins (BPA and need)

Milwaukee - Kristaps Porzingis (gives stretch 4 who can run with Giannis)

Indiana - Devin Booker (need scorer to help Paul George)

Atlanta - KAT (kinda BPA, a Dwight/KAT rotation would be nice though)

Memphis - Robert Covington (3&D wing to try and slow down the Kawhis, KDs and LeBrons of the world)

Oklahoma City - Carmelo Anthony (proven scorer to take the load off Westbrook)

Washington - Joel Embiid (BPA and helps everywhere. Another 3pt threat as well)

LA Clippers - Andrew Wiggins (need offensive playmaker who can play either 2 or 3)

Utah - Hassan Whiteside (gobert considered out right? Rim protector and rebounder)

Toronto - Ricky Rubio (can give Lowry or DeRozan some rest. Kind of BPA since I'm not really sure what can be done to help the Raptors with their current squad)

Cleveland - Dirk Nowitzki (veteran who can hit 3s and just wants to win)

Boston - Andre Drummond (rebound. that's all)

Houston - Nerlens Noel (mobile defensive monster who can switch on 1-5 and dunk)

San Antonio - Nikola Jokic (seems like he could thrive on the Spurs. Smart player who will play to their system.)

Golden State - Brook Lopez (another offensive beast for Golden State, why not?)

Wasn't sure if we were considering currently injured players off teams. Kind of double dipped on that by assuming Gobert would be out and assuming Embiid was definitely good to play

Idk that's my list anyway.

EDIT- Read the question wrong. Make it Whiteside for Golden State.

He'd be off the board. Cavs would take him for sure if he hadn't been picked.

You think Indy would want Jokic with Myles Turner there? Seems like they could use another shooter. Though I guess you're not the only one considering quite a few picked him for Indy.

Portland - Anthony Davis - big man option v GS makes for third great scorer.
Chicago - Karl-Anthony Towns - feast on Boston's interior
Milwaukee - Kristaps Porzingis - Milwaukee likes length to play with very versatile lineup
Indiana - Devin Booker - big-time scorer ready for first playoff run
Atlanta - Nikola Jokic - looking for a team-first player to share the ball
Memphis - Carmelo Anthony - why not? Production at SF.
Oklahoma City - DeMarcus Cousins - why not? Dominate Houston inside - has to come with understanding Russ is #1.
Washington - Andre Drummond - they love their starting 5, anticipate playoff matchups down the line
LA Clippers - Kemba Walker - not the best fit, but had wonderful season shooting 3 (40% on 3.0 makes) and would be secondary scorer
Utah - Hassan Whiteside - protect the paint in Gobert's absence. Allows them to play JJ at the 4.
Toronto - Andrew Wiggins - home-town boy comes back without weight of expectation.
Cleveland - Nicolas Batum - can do a bit of everything; would be glue guy
Boston - Tyson Chandler - with targets off the board, Boston go with a veteran with playoff wins/experience eager to play
Houston - Marvin Williams - target a stretch-4 who finished season strongly
San Antonio - Goran Dragic - feels like a good fit with guard play inconsistent at best now
Golden State - Dirk Nowitzki - intangibles - wants to win and has

Chicago - Cousins
Milwaukee - KAT
Indiana - Harrison Barnes
Atlanta - Wilson Chandler
Memphis - Batum
Oklahoma City - Dirk
Washington - Whiteside
LA Clippers - Melo
Utah - Wiggins
Toronto - Gallo
Cleveland - Garrett Temple (I know you guys will think im crazy but this guy would be great next to Bron. Ultimate professional, defender, 3pt shooter, ball handler, everything you want next to Lebron.)
Boston - Jokic
Houston - Booker (another shooter next to Harden)
San Antonio - Dragic (he would be perfect)
Golden State - Wes Matthews (what do you give the team that has it all? Another shooter/defender)

Not bad. With Chicago I might go with a big who can hit the 3 since they could also use outside shooting. KP or maybe Cousins. Maybe a shooter for OKC since they lack many good shooters and already have some good bigs. Otherwise makes sense if Gobert is banged up.

Even with Anthony Davis I'm not sure the Blazers could beat the Warriors, even without Durant.

tbh, Chicago and Indy were the toughest one for me as both of these could use shooters but this draft is so big heavy that it's hard to pick just based on need. Also, I'm not sold out that Wiggins or Booker are ready to be positive contributors at this level which means my shortlist for Indy inluded Kemba, Batum or another big. In the end, fact that Jokic could coexist with Myles on the floor was the reason I've picked him as I think he can bring much more in terms of individual quality than any of the guards/wings available.

I agree about Booker and Wiggins. I might go with Gary Harris. KP has range though, so he works nicely in Chicago.

LOL at love for Batum The "$120M non-factor career chucker" in this forum. Tons of Batum and nearly zero Whiteside!
