Stockton is WAY better than CP3 on both sides of the court.

10 x All-NBA First Team (same as Michael Jordan)

NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time Team
38.3 points per game in a single season
61 points in the finals against Boston

This guy at least deserves a mention.

I came in to write Malone and say it wasn't close. But that is an impressive list. I didn't see him growing up so it's hard for me to have an educated opinion on Elgin. Maybe it isn't as a closed case as I believed.

Stockton, Miller, Barkley, Ewing, are also all good players people mentioned.

Players like Grant Hill shouldn't be on this list. He was good, but injured for too long to be considered.

Mullin definitely isn't the goat of players who haven't won a ring.

Dwight Howard should be an honorable mention. Like it or not, he has numbers and accolades.

I'm not saying he's the GOAT out of players who haven't won a ring, but he was a great player. Hall of Fame player to be exact.

He's definitely higher on this list than Grant Hill and Dwight Howard.

Mullin's case over Hill and Howard is actually pretty weak. Didn't peak higher, no prime or career longevity edge and was a poor defender.

I don't think we should include active players like Durant in this discussion. Unless they are very close to retiring and aren't on a contender team, they definitely can still get a ring.

Mullin has a five year span where he averaged over 25 points per game while shooting over 50%. There's a reason why he's in the hall of fame.

Grant Hill was a great player, but injuries screwed up his career.

Dwight Howard has also had a good career, but it seems to me that his career is on the downside.

I would be absolutely shocked if Durant ends up with zero rings in his career.

Mullin also had a short prime due to injury issues, didn't peak higher than Hill or Dwight and was a poor defender. Doesn't even have a longevity edge.

Hill had a HoF worthy career. Dwight will be first ballot HoFer.

It's not worth arguing over. All I'm saying is that Mullin had a good career and asked if he had won a ring. I never said he was the GOAT player without a ring (and even said that Ewing should be in the conversation).

Elgin Baylor needs to be on the short list and might be the best answer.

Top 5:

Malone
Barkley
Baylor
Stockton
Ewing

I'm not going to list current players. They still have time.

Not that Bill Simmons pyramid is perfect, but he did put a lot of time into ranking players. Here's where BS had them ranked in 2010.

15 Baylor
18 Malone
19 Barkley
25 Stockton
34 Gervin
36 Nash
37 Iverson
40 Ewing

Malone didn't play well in the playoffs while Barkley did. This should count for something.

I would take Barkley ahead of Malone considering everything I know about both players.

Playoffs:
Malone PER 21.1 TS% .526 BPM 3.6
Barkley PER 24.2 TS% .584 BPM 7.3

Malone would probably have a ring if he didn't perform so poorly in the playoffs. Barkley and most of those other guys performed well, but didn't have a good enough team.
