How is Curry not the finals MVP?

Post#1 » by Team LeBron » Tue Jun 13, 2017 7:28 am

He has clearly been the Golden state's most valuable player!
Consider that the Cavaliers' overall gameplan was to stop Curry and let everyone else get their points.
Putting up 25/9/9 in those conditions while being repeatedly double teamed thus creating space for his teammates including ring chasers like Kevin Durant definitely deserves the MVP award.

Hes definitely their best player. But even if he had a good game 4 voters would be too dumb to give it to him.

Curry is probably the craftiest and pound for pound the most skilled offensive player in the NBA. That being said...you are straight tripping if you honestly think that he is the best player on the Warriors. That title belongs to KD, hands down. They are both NBA top-five, but KD is probably 1a or 1b, while Curry hovers around 3-5.
Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

Now that Curry is having to take a backseat to KD, it will be interesting to see just how much of a "pay cut" he is willing to take, just so that he can continue to play on KD's team.

Curry is a pretty selfless, win-first kind of guy, especially for an NBA player. These guys all want to play together, I doubt that anybody will really be moving anywhere or be unwilling to sacrifice if it means keeping the team together. It was especially interesting to hear KD and Steph each talk about how their relationship has grown over the course of the year. This was a happy team title or not, but winning tonight sealed the fate of the rest of the league for the next handful of years, I'm afraid.

Yes ofc he is according to boxscore obsessed individuals.
Eye test does not lie and it clearly shows Curry is the MVP , you need a certain amount of bball IQ to understand that though.

Keep telling yourself that. I have been vocal here about Durant and his bitch move and the last guy to be a fan of him right now, not to mention I am also a fan of Curry as he is a true competitor and a class act but Durant took over the Warriors as being the Alpha and was clearly head and shoulders the best player for GS.

The same reason he wasn't in 2015. Cavs sold out to stop him. Along with sky high expectations considering his regular season performance his raw numbers look underwhelming but the fact is he opens up their entire offense. When Curry sits it falls apart

Curry should have been 2015 fmvp. Yes Iggy was key in curbing Lebron from the opening tip once he was put in the opening line up but that team was not a championship team without Curry.

But it's pretty hard to argue against Durant as 2017 fmvp. Especially after today. I've seen a lot of comments saying Curry has been underwelming but I don't agree with that. Just not as good as KD

The difference is
a)Game 4 - Curry was poor, KD one of the few Warriors that still played well.
b)Game 5 - Curry didnt shoot well but played quite well overall, but Durant was simply out this world in a championship close out game.

Come on... he missed not 1, not 2, but 3 free throws.

Kyrie Irving is 3 pounds heavier, but even that, Kyrie is the more skilled offensive players in the NBA. (And then there is a short guy in Boston which is pretty good as well)

Curry is no doubt the craftiest and pound for pound best shooter in the NBA though.

People see the person who puts the ball in the basket, it takes a more in-depth look to see how Curry sucks up the defense, attracts double-teams and traps to open the field for everyone and let Durant feast on single coverage. It was the same in 2015 when Andre iguodala played 6 games unguarded.

Curry was great, KD was greater.

In addition to his performance, KD effectively ended the series in Game 3.

Curry doesn't have to take any discount for the core to remain.

They all play on the same team, they can't win all the awards. Simple.

There is a guy called Kevin Durant who was rightfully Finals MVP.

Why does this thread keep being started. Didn't everyone essentially say a few days back because he was behind LeBron and KD in order

Clearly? Most Cavs fans have been telling everyone who would listen that Iriving was outplaying him through game four.

Durant averaged 35 ppg while playing an all around game. It seemed pretty clear cut to me.
