What is Ainge and Magic smoking?

Post#1 » by RingsDontLie » Mon Jun 19, 2017 1:53 am

Someone needs to say it. May go down as one of the worst moves in NBA history. Sorry had to add Magic to this because both our borderline crazy moves, or perhaps genius in hindsight... :banghead:

You can't say Magic didn't improve the Lakers in the win column though...

I agree. So if he takes JJ - where does Jaylen fall in this mess? Just a terrible move.

Hyperbole at its best.

"One of the worst moves in NBA history" = trading down from 1 -->3 in a draft that has no generational talents? Uwotm8?

Boston picks after already being a one seed this year.

2017 PHI 1st
2018 BOS 1st
2018 LAL 1st
2018 BKN 1st
2019 BOS 1st
2019 LAC 1st
2019 SAC 1st
2019 MEM 1st

I would kill to be in the Celtics position right now

Double counted. It's either 2018 LAL 1st OR 2019 SAC 1st. They are not getting both.

They don't have both those picks, but an either or.

Meh. He will just continue deferring and collecting until he owns every teams first round pick in, let's say, 2030.

Fultz or IT can play off the ball.

Fultz is generational.

and uh, what if Jackson, Tatum or whoever he picks winds up being better than Fultz?

and he gets another top 5 pick in a more top heavy draft?

What's he smoking then?

While solid, Fultz is no franchise maker, in case you guys felt otherwise. He's a piece, and Ainge is building a dynasty. Just wait.

It's LAL 2018 if 2-5 or the 2019 Sac pick. Still an envious position.

LAC could be bad in '18-19 if Paul or Griffin leave. Memphis could be bad too. Gasol, Conley and Zbo aren't getting younger and they're capped out with that awful Parsons deal.

They can trade two of the better firsts for Butler, sign Hayward or Ibaka and still have five 1st round picks the next two drafts. WOW.

Ainge view:
Fultz-Celtics>Josh Jackson-Celtics
- way more than compensated by a potential top5 pick
-Picks can be used to steal a star or two.

Colangelo view:
Fultz-Sixers >>> Josh Jackson-Celtics

Kevin Pelton thinks Celts got better value in this deal. I also think so
