This.

The moment they returned to hero ball all was lost for them. The sin of not trusting their teammates brought russ and kd down.

The ironic thing here is my theory of the original OKC big 4 squad is that Russ should have been forced to focus on using his athleticism on defense, and Harden should have been the primary ball handler. If they had a strong coach that is.

KD to blame whilst Russ shots poorly with TOs and plays defence like a turnstile all series.

Why is everyone mad GS picked up such a choker?

Answers

So Cleveland can win its first ever championship for any major team and crown lebron

Because the cavs beat the warriors after a being down 3-1...the system had to rectify it by letting the cursed cubs win a champion ship after a million years

The falcons choked because Brady and lebron are the faces of their respective leagues and it's more entertaining if they both pull off miraculous comebacks

Yet according to On/Off played far better than Westbrook that series.

Westbrook sabotaging the team to get Durant to leave fits the facts much better. Why isn't anyone going with that narrative?

I think they let Green get away with murder all series. If you stop him from kicking testicles, I think you see the Thunder finish it off. Suspend him one game for his obvious nut shots, bingo.

Because GSW scored more points than OKC in 4 of the 7 games.

The same thing happened to Golden State in the Finals. They both lost because they couldn't win 4 our the 7 games they were to play. The better team is the team that won the most games over the previously agreed to maximum span of 7 games.

Uhhhh...almost don't count boss. I almost ate a tuna sandwich yesterday, that doesn't really have much meaning unless I ate the sandwich and absorbed the nutritional value from it.

OKC lacked depth outside of Russ and KD. That's the bottom line. Russell also doesn't play D, saves his energy for the offensive end.

Durant played bad those last three games, Westbrook played worse. Overall they choked as a team.
People who claim that Durant already knew he'd go to GSW and sabotaged the games need their heads checked. Ludicrous revisionism there.

if Thunder management didn't trade Harden they would have won. Thunder management deserves the L.

Kevin Durant was the main reason the OKC could not hold onto their lead in Game 6. Put the entire blame on Russ all you want. KD played hero ball, took terrible shots and choked the lead away. And losing Game 6 is the reason they lost the series.

What an utter joke that KD joined the Warriors just a month later.

The question really is why did they lose game 6. The warriors had only one home less all season or something. It's no surprise the warriors won those two home games 5 and 7.

Yes, having another guy to dominate the ball and not play defense is definitely what they needed. The defensive versatility and rebounding of Ibaka and Adams were certainly not very important in that series.

Between game 5 to game 7

Durant: 32 PPG on 52% TS (108 ORTG)
Westbrook: 26 PPG on 45% TS (98 ORTG)

Durant in game 7: 27 points on 65% TS, 18 points in the second half
Westbrook in game 7: 19 points on 42% TS, 5 points in the second half

Fact: Kevin Durant had a horrible shooting display in Game 6.

Fact: The score was still tied 101-101 going into the final two minutes of Game 6.

Fact: In the final two minutes of Game 6, OKC had five (non-garbage time) possessions.

Fact: In four out of those five possessions, Russell Westbrook turned the ball over.

Blame it on Russ if it makes you feel better and fits your Durant narrative but those of us who watched every Thunder game last year know that Durant choking was something that happened more and more as the season progressed.

Game 7 was on Russ. It's not even debatable.

Games 5 and 6 were on both Durant and Westbrook. Certainly, at the time, I recall plenty of OKC fans being very unhappy with KD's performance those two games -- fair enough. But, c'mon, Russ was terrible, too.

Durant played far, far better defense in the series and was the better player.

If you want to blame Durant for joining the Warriors -- go ahead, again, fair criticism. If you want to ignore the statistics and pile on KD for losing the WCF, you're doing yourself a disservice by joining the mindless haters.
