yea i understand why the starters played so many minutes, I'm just making the point that its not like they are trying to make playoffs.. they are locked so they should have trust in their bench and give them some experience going against the spurs especially when they are up because next time they most likely wont be up by 20.
We've been complaining about it all year. The Pistons bench this year is actually pretty damn good. But when push comes to shove, Flip will run his starters into the ground.
In fact, the only reason the starters have averaged so few minutes, is that they had alot of blowout type games where the bench played the entire fourth quarters which skewed the numbers.
The Dallas game, it was the bench that actually cut the deficit down to 5 going into the half. But Saunders rode the starters for 15 minutes to start the 2nd half and that 5 pt deficit became a 19 pt deficit and then he surrenders and played the bench the rest of the game.
So the bench mpg look nice, but the context in which he uses the bench is the problem.
