Lakers vs Cavs in the Finals, who would have won?

Post#1 » by An Unbiased Fan » Fri Jun 12, 2009 10:10 pm

I'm thinking LA in 5 over Cleveland. I say Cleveland wins game 1, and LA proceeds to win the next 4.

I just don't see anyone on the Cavs matching up with Gasol or Kobe.

Lakers in 6 IMO. The only team who could really threaten them would be healthy Celtics, and (maybe) healthy Spurs/Rockets.
Who would win one-on-one in HORSE?

Bird: Nobody beats me in H-O-R-S-E. Besides, Magic cant shoot.

Magic: Larry, you'd have no chance against me one-on-one. I've got too many ways to beat you. Plus, as slow as I am, I'm still faster than you.

The Magic have better team than the Cavaliers and they are losing this ring. Lakers easily against the Cavs, they would destroy them in the paint.

Can't go wrong with this logic. Screw the match ups. Lakers win.

i know it sounds weird to say because kobe is all-world, but i think we'd have a better time matching up with him over pau. the lakers just have so many options outside of kobe - gasol, odom, and ariza are definitely better overall than anything we got outside of lebron

id go lakers in 5 as well but i think they would have gotten game 1 and cleveland would have responded in game 2...it'd be the type of series where it would probably be close finishes (maybe a blowout in one of the games) but no one would doubt who was going to win in the end

The best team in the E/C is playing in the finals and thats the team that is down to LA 3-1.
Also you keep in mind the Cavs were 0=2 against LA in regualr season.

Since the Cavs lost to the Magic, and the Lakers are 3-1 against the Magic right now, and I'm a Laker homer, I'm going to say the Lakers.

lakers in 5 because lebron could prolly win a game by himself.. Again, no one for the cavs could match our bigs and they would put up monster numbers.

The Lakers vs. the Knicks in 2011 should be good.

Lakers were 0-2 against the Magic in the regular season as well. Rockets were 0-4 against LA in the regular season as well.

Lakers would sweep the Cavs easily if we played. Even if Cavs had homecourt and the help of the refs we would dismantle them. Although its 3-1; this Magic series has been really close and tough.

I agree the Magic are the 2nd best team in the league. They have so many options outside of Dwight, and Dwight is a top 3 player in the league. You've seen how the lakers have (Please Use More Appropriate Word) Dwight Howard OFFENSIVELY in the series, with Lebron we would just take him out of the game and make the role players beat us. Which they wouldn't.

obviously if the Cavs lost to the Magic because of mismatches obviously they would lose to Finals. Again mismatches.

Pg- Fisher more aggresive than Mo
Sg Kobe could post West all day if he wanted
Pf- Pau> Vaerj
C-Z is too soft as shown against ECF

Along with Odom> cavs bench

If KG were healthy, Orlando would not be the 2nd best team in the NBA

the only thing I was worried about if we had faced the Cavs was the refs and LeBron. But considering we can still beat the Magic + refs, im saying we would of swept the Cavs pretty easily.

It would be a tight series, Cleveland matches up better with LA than Orlando. I think the Lakers would still win, but Cleveland would a fair chance of winning.

Doesn't look like the Lakers are winning their current finals games "easily". Looks like they are ekeing out victories, almost given to them as charity

In all honesty, I think Cleveland was one of the most overrated teams in nba history. No matter how you cut it the Cavs' makeup is still a superstar and "the rest" team. Just like the '6ers in 2002 with Iverson. Bron's teammates are good basketball players. But that's all they are is role players. And that won't win a ring. Their hype skyrocketed as they inflated their record by taking care of business at home. Which was furthered by playing two mickey mouse teams in the playoffs. When they finally played a legit playoff team it took god like heroics from Lebron in game 2 to stop them from being swept. They had a cute season but I never felt that they were legit title contenders. I don't think they would of made it out of round 1 of the west to be honest. But they had a good enough season to try and coax lebron into staying. (which would be foolish)

Me. In the fantasy alternate world I would have won the 350 million powerball and life would have been great.
